I looked at the profiles for the tour of the pyrenees and it was very underwhelming.

Probably for the best looking at the field. My knowledge of women's pro racing is limited but it doesn't seem to be a who's who of the best out there

A climb pretty much off every turn in that valley and they manage to do just 1 across 4 stages (and that 1 is arguably the least prestigious in the region). Whoever does the parcours for women's stage racing is utterly hopeless.

As, unfortunately, do so many of the women's races.
That's another hurdle (literally for much of the peloton) they are going to have to clear at some point.

What's the point of having a race in the pyrenees, called the pyrenees if its not going up hills?

Pavel Sivakov has now won as many major stage races (HC or higher) as Pinot and Bardet combined

Todays Tour of the Pyrenees was even worse viewing than yesterday’s, they kept losing the live feed. So they had the fixed camera on the finish line but it was so badly positioned you could barely see the riders come over the line.

Which is rather weird for me, as I don't rate him at all. He is the typical Ineos rider; W/kg seemingly up the wazoo, but prone to crashing fairly constantly.

The Women's Commie Games race was a strong contender for worst race of the year.

And the fatal combination of the best team and all the best sprinters being Australian

Men's race has been very different. England should win this.

Thomas riding as though he wants a sprint. Could have done with one of the other Welsh riders up there.

What the hell was the South African doing there? They finally got a gap and as soon as Thomas joined them he sat up and messed it up for everyone

The mis-identification of the english riders has been dreadful. 3 different helmet styles, 3 different bike colours. Really, really easy to work them out.

Has the winning split finally happened?

And suggesting WT pros might be tired in a 160 km race? Come on!
  • Just got in, is Cav in the chasing group behind Culverwell and Watson?

Surprisingly decent race considering the course, powerful sprint from Gate. England royally f***ed it up. Just glad the Northern Irish guy didn't get a medal as he managed to kill 3 breaks. Not sure the Scot deserved a medal either, they didn't do much with 2 riders in the lead group.

Thomas's attack looked perfectly time, not sure why Plapp came through to close the gap rather than leaving it to the English.

Strange way to do it, took the work off the English riders struggling to close the gap and ended up leading out the sprinters.

It’s strange how non sprinters will always chase, despite the need to save their energy for one big attack.
Meanwhile, sprinters are always prepared to loose in order to win, so rarely do a tap.
