The Beta variant was all about immune system evasion, the Delta was all about ease and speed of spread. Analysis of Omicron seems to indicate it’s a hybrid of Beta and Delta ( evades the immune system and spreads easily and quickly) If that’s right, it’s going to be a right barrel of laughs. The question as to whether or not it’s more virulent than Delta hasn’t been answered yet, and that really is the key concern.0

Three tomatoes are walkin' down the street. Papa Tomato, Mama Tomato and Baby Tomato. Baby Tomato starts lagging behind, and Papa Tomato gets really angry. Goes back and squishes him and says: "Ketchup."briantrumpet said:Stevo_666 said:

I'm not even sure what that is supposed to say about Arden... the only punch it seems to land is to suggest she's a machete-weilding maniac, and I seem to have missed that in the news...
You forgot to mention ketchup.

About "stealth" omicron. It's a really bad headline.

Or is it bad news? I didn't understand the paper itself but the tweet reads to me only that there is a large vaccine evasion. Which means mass reinfection. Okay, so we would then see a smaller proportion of those seriously ill, but a smaller proportion of a much larger number could still be worse than we've seen recently, or ever. We still don't know.kingstonian said:0 -

Just brought my booster forwards by a couple of weeks. Others should be able to do the same.1

Yes, I was able to do the same this morning. Was due to be on 5th Jan, now having it next week.1 -
Still unable to book 2nd jabs for 12-15 year olds though.0

Had a text from the NHS saying I hadn't had my booster yet but am eligible. I had it a month ago and when I check the NHS app it's recorded on there. I guess as it's on the app I won't have any problems should I ever have to provide proof so can ignore the reminder.0

Interesting. Only just managed to book ours for early January. Seems to be the same variation as previous round.TheBigBean said:Just brought my booster forwards by a couple of weeks. Others should be able to do the same.

Same. #3 on 11 November. This week had text and email requests to book a booster. Systems ain't too integrated. QR code for #3 works ok, got scanned for entry to every bar / restaurant visited while in Belgium.veronese68 said:Had a text from the NHS saying I hadn't had my booster yet but am eligible. I would try again. It has a "view availability option" which will show you your options prior to cancelling your current one. Previously, this showed mine to be no early than my previous booking, but this morning it changed, so I could get it done tomorrow if I wanted.rjsterry said:

I think I got lucky here in stugeonolland. I got a invitation to book an appointment a couple of days before it all kicked off and got a slot 4 1/2 months after my first jab (tomorrow). At time of booking the policy was 6 months, so I'd have been turned away. The official policy has since changed, so I have beaten the rush.0

"From Friday the legal requirement to wear a face mask will be extended in England to most indoor public venues, such as cinemas and theatres - although there will be exemptions for things such as eating, the PM says.
Covid passes will become mandatory for nightclubs and venues where large crowds gather in England.
This will include unseated indoor venues with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 5,000 people and any venue with more than 10,000 people.
He says two doses will be sufficient for a Covid pass, but this will be kept under review as boosters are rolled out.
A negative lateral flow will also be acceptable."

I can think of a way to get a negative lateral flow that is totally pain free.pangolin said:"From Friday the legal requirement to wear a face mask will be extended in England to most indoor public venues, such as cinemas and theatres - although there will be exemptions for things such as eating, the PM says.

I presume if I just bypass the whole sticking swab up my nose stage, the lat flow tests still come up with the control line?pangolin said:"From Friday the legal requirement to wear a face mask will be extended in England to most indoor public venues, such as cinemas and theatres - although there will be exemptions for things such as eating, the PM says.

That's going to make going to see football harder. I can imagine the huge crowd of people waiting to demonstrate their vaccine status.0
