It didn't hit me as bad as Mrs KG this time, I thought it might be because I had the vaccine booster last winter, but maybe it's still just luck.

Actually, I have been wondering which of the pandemic era mitigations or habits people have stuck with...
I still keep shared rooms well ventilated, even when it's cool, and do bulk cooking (as it's cheap and time-saving). I back to washing hands at the normal regular times (loo-stops & food handling)... I've one work colleague who still sanitises frequently through the work day, and I think he's probably had more bugs than me over the past couple of years.

Almost none. I am a semi-hermit anyway. Main thing is if any of us have anything that could remotely be considered a sniffle, we avoid the elderly and disabled relatives.

post-pandemic i think i had more+worse colds/whatever for about 18 months, presumably catching up on all the ones i hadn't got due to not being exposed
usually coinciding with travel
from observation there're an awful lot of people who do not wash their hands after using the restrooms, which makes me more inclined to wash mine and try to not touch the door handles on the way out - always wondered why the majority of doors are pull to exit, requiring contact with handles used by the post-wipe unwashed, push to exit would be far more logical

Re the latter, there's a more immediate danger of clouting someone with an outward-opening door.
Maybe more people would wash their hands properly if we called them 'shitrooms' rather than one of the many euphemisms we use.

It is disconcerting to witness sig proportion of men, or for wokeness should that be users of men's facilities in motorway services areas who walk straight out sans hand washing. Unless of course they are using the cubicle for Trainspotting style sniff and enhance. At least the exits are open with door handles.
Next vacc appt para mi not until start of November.

I never understood how any men consider willy hands to be perfectly acceptable, immediately prior to Burger King.

I read something in the back of a Sunday supplement years ago saying it was safer not to wash your hands in a public toilet. Best to go in and not touch anything other than yourself as you should know where that's been. With more hands free facilities this is probably not the case.
I still wash mine, but if a place looks unclean I may splash and dash using elbows for door opening.

Genuine question - given that one could drink one's own piss, but eating one's own shit would be ill-advised, would there be a parallel difference in risk between not washing one's hands thoroughly enough (or not at all) after dealing with fore and aft systems of waste disposal?
I'm not sure I dare google this one.

I am revolted.by the concept of public toilet door handles. I either use a tissue or an elbow, a foot or let someone else open it. Nothing to do with Covid, just willy hands.

Don't know and won't be googling that either. Thinking about it the article was only about fore, and not aft disposals. Also only for men, which probably illustrates how long ago it was 😂
