  • Trump made a massive play for the blue collar vote, and was very succesful.
The health of blue collar workers tends to be worse than for white collar workers, as a massive factor in health is wealth.

Not all of the blue collar vote.

Don't get swayed by the narrative. The people you refer to were the swing voters (hence the basis of the victory) but not the bulk of the voters....

Republican voters are usually richer than dem voters.

You've not been to any of the southern states then..?

Been to Houston and I can assure you, the rich (white) guys there do not vote democrat.
I never said they did. You inferred that only rich people vote GOP. Which is self-evidently not the case. That's all.

    Lots of possibilities.

If he hasn't had chickenpox he can have two of them. It's a sensible investment for you.

I read that in a mock German ww2 officer accent - must have been reading too many Facebook Covid conspiracy posts.

Austria are putting the unvaccinated back into lockdown. Not sure how they'll enforce it but can you imagine the uproar if we tried that in the UK? There's enough pushback to the Covid passport schemes.

Topic came up at a family gathering over the weekend.
Those in their 20s say fake passports are very easy to achieve.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Not much harder, and more convenient if you are anti-vaxxer or simply can't be bothered getting a jab.

I think it's in the news this morning that the older school children will get 2nd jabs, at 12-16 weeks.

Just got my booster done this morning. It was Moderna.

There was a bit of a queue (10-15 mins, I'd guess) for the drop-in people; I'd pre-booked via the website, and the queue was one person. And I got Moderna'd one week before my six-month interval, which wouldn't have happened if I'd just dropped in (though it looks like that will change very shortly).

Apparently, the booster won't appear on the NHS app as an additional 'Covid Pass' yet - so it remains to be seen what happens, say in France, if their 'pass sanitaire' requires boosters to be registered.

    Re: USA.

I read someone saying about masks that they'd rather our kind of culture war about masks than one about vaccines which is what they have.

Because Biden is pro vaccine mandate, republicans (and Fox News) are anti. (Ironically, Fox has a vaccine/testing/mask mandate in its own buildings.) It's spilling over to existing vaccines.

Basically, they'd have many more people die in order to maintain a political advantage. When they are all vaccinated themselves.

Side note - that should be "It didn't used to be".

    Or maybe I don't.

It's not a form I'd use anyway... I'd probably use "used not to".

Had booster on the 11th of October (44 year old with NHS staff discount) Now come down with the buggger. Can't get warm, coughing and streaming nose. Not happy, especially as I can WFH :D:D

You of all people, Brian, :) should know that American English is generally a throwback to the way we use(d) to speak rather than an innovation.

My Pfizer last Wednesday appeared on the NHS app listed under the GP records / medicines section, batch # etc. But that section isn't always accessible; e.g. checked just now and there's nothing showing at all. Screen grab when it is?

I'll be keeping my little booster jab card safely for now. But I'll try a screen grab if/when, so I can go in for un allongé at Christmas, one way or another.

Well, hot off the (Guardian) press, anyway:

Johnson says boosters will be included in NHS Covid travel pass data
Q: Will the booster dose be added to the NHS Covid travel pass, and when?

    Johnson says this will happen.

He says, getting fully vaccinated with a booster, will make travel easier. This is yet another reason to get this done.
