Morons from 'Big Brother Watch' (is that name deliberately ironic?) whinging about Covid passes for theatres / cinemas being a restriction on civil liberties. When will people start to accept that liberties are two way?

So is Johnson genuinely too thick to realise that the "storm clouds gathering over Europe" is the weather system we've been expect for the last 2 or 3 months or is he setting up Johnny Foreigner to take the blame if he has to perform the U turn on restrictions he promised wouldn't happen?

Does anybody know the gap between jabs for school kids?

    They only get one.
    many thanks

he is so enthusiastic for jabs that he now wants the chicken pox one

I think it's in the news this morning that the older school children will get 2nd jabs, at 12-16 weeks.
I thought that was only 16 and 17 year olds.

Sorry, that's what I meant by 'older', given that it's only 12+ years who have been jabbed.

Good news on booster efficacy. Pfizer booster (sorry BT) increases protection from symptomatic infection above the level immediately after 2nd dose.

I think I saw somewhere that the Moderna was only one or two percentage points different on studies so far, so I don't think I'll complain.

Definitely trying to put blame on others. Language used was disgraceful.

I had a booster today but feel less reassured as two family friends have tested positive 3 weeks after theirs.

I would keep going into the system to book a slot as I there was a lot less availability when I did it and had to book about 4 weeks in advance

Maybe the individual mass centres work differently from one another. However, guy I know got himself a booster yesterday by just walking up, no advance booking. This centre, Oxford Kassam, allows walk ins from 3pm onwards, join the queue, though he said it was straight in for him.

Yes, walk-in available in Exeter mass vaccination site, at all times, I think, not a big queue (though it was mid weekday morning).

Yep - 16 & 17 year olds will now start to receive a 2nd dose with a gap between both doses of 12 weeks.

Currently 12-15 year olds are receiving only 1 dose but there are whispers that this will be increased to 2 doses (with 12 week intervals) in the New Year.

Nice. I found when I was flying that the necessity for negative rona tests beforehand quite reassuring in the airport and on the plane.

The airport and plane don't worry me. The dinner I attended very much does.

Fair. Could you ask attendants to take Lateral Flows ahead? I have found most people amenable to that.

Czechs joining Austria in restrictions for the unvaccinated.
Coming to a high street near you soon, is the phrase I believe.

"The Czech Republic will ban people who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid from accessing public events and services from Monday, Prime Minister Andrej Babis has announced."
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Went to an awards event last week. No attempt at any sort of mitigation whatsoever. Crowded foyer reception, sit down dinner and then chatting in the bar afterwards. No ill effects and negative tests following, so have decided to not worry about it, but would have felt more comfortable if they had asked guests to do tests before attending.

Who's going to be elected leader of the Cake Stop Party for the next general election? Reckon it would be in with a chance...

Think there might be more bickering in the Cake Stop party than the labour party under Corbyn.

I went to a show at the NEC last Friday, had to have proof of being double jabbed, a negative test or a legitimate exemption. It did help me feel more comfortable walking about, I'd also had my booster a few days before. I tried to get it as early as I could to maximise the effect before going. I'm told the Excel Centre have a similar policy.
One of my colleagues couldn't go to the show because he subscribes to all the batshittery, it didn't go down well with management but we have no policy on that so nothing has been done. I suspect they might implement some sort of policy now.

Germany doing a pretty spectacular job of catching up. And school cases rising pretty rapidly again in the UK post half=term, apparently driven by 5-11yo's.

There are a bunch of other European countries excluded from that chart whose lines would be somewhere in the post above.

looking at that graph you have to think we never dropped the herd immunity policy
