Sky hoovering up young talent... clearly a strategy shift. Though they don't have a great track record with young riders, do they?

No-one forces these riders to go to Sky y'know, it's their choice!

Well indeed, they clearly see it as a fine place ot learn their trade and improve. Also good to see the likes of Kennaugh, Swift etc moving onto other successful and well reputed teams. Much prefer to have a spread of British talent through a number of teams, then all crammed into one entity.

Always thought cycling has never been very country specific per team, much prefer a mixture of nationalities to make up a team.

Cycling podcast rumour of Woods to Sky. Would make sense I think, not that I think it's necessarily the best thing for him.

They mentioned Dylan van Baarle to Sky too if the Cannondale-Drapac yard sale comes to pass

I think Woods probably has some emotional attachment to C-D given how he was "discovered" and the faith they've put in him. I get the impression he takes that kind of thing fairly seriously. But in the podcast interview he was also talking about how he'd been chatting with Froome and they seem to get on well, so you can see how it might happen.

This is a weird one. He's a really, really promising sprinter - Sky don't exactly have form for giving a toss about sprinters. Never worked for Cav, and Viviani is a forlorn sight most of the time. Unless he's just there for the cash & backroom support for a couple of years and then plans to move on to a team that will support him or give him a role, instead of putting all their eggs in the Froome basket? Or maybe Sky/he think they can make him into a classics rider (not a bad shout actually)?
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Not sure about this, Woods has already said he can't afford to wait and is looking elsewhere.

A sprinter has to be pretty remarkable to be the centre of affairs in their debut year - Cavendish/Kittel quality. Ewen looks a little out of place at Orica now.
Lawless and the Norwegian will get opportunities in a team with no other sprinter.

Also when looking a rider team choices - never lose sight of the fact that this is their job, their livelihood. Sky offer rock solid stability financially - the sponsor owns the team. A three year contract will be paid in full even if they decide to wind up the team in two

The ex-Middlesex and England fast-medium bowler?
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

*Well he sounds like one f*%$£d up individual.........
Angus Fraser was named in a deposition in a case settled out of court in the United States in which he was alleged to have administered performance-enhancing drugs to former US junior cyclists in 1990 without their knowledge or consent.

*The nutter in the article, not the bowler chap, I'm sure he would not be somewhat stumped, and not in the least bit bowled over by this association.

    Unfortunately very true.

Seemed to be a good bloke, even if he was the butt of a lot of jokes on here during his time as top end sprinter.

    Speaks decent Dutch too.

The much maligned Tyler Farrar. He was a very good rider, with stage wins in all three GTs, and always came across well in interviews.

Cycling news say Viviani to replace Kittel in Quick Step. Sky just don't seem to have use for sprinters
