I said yonks ago Cav to Trek and I reckon Kennaugh to BMC
This is currently the rumour
Along with Deignan to Trek.
Anyone know how long Nieve's contract is? I reckon he would fancy a move to Tinkoff or Movistar.
Marczynski is rumoured for Lotto.
Also anyone know about Barguil? Etixx is a rumour. He seems to be lacking a little direction tbh and what with Tom D's new found climbing prowess I suspect he may look to move. Him and Alaphillipe may work well together.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Smith on Cav
"He's a great ambassador and Qhubeka would love him. He will open the door to more PR and bigger PR, more respect in the peloton. There's a lot of things that we can get from him. I don't think anyone in the team has to worry about their place in the team. Is it a win-win situation? I think it is."0 -

Can we think of any top tier teams which don't announce their signings until January? Cav to Sky?
He will be at MTN. Just not announced yet. Others will be joining him too.
Oh really. And you know this how?
Knowledge within the media.
But no skin off my nose whether you go with it or not *shrug*
It's the first time I have read anyone adamantly state that is where he is going. People post crap on the Internet all the time and I obviously would like to know the source so that I can decide for myself.
I'm struggling with this if true. They are a ***** little Team and he deserves better. Yes, I know they won stages at the TdF - bkah, blah, blah. Doesn't change my perception.

Rio and track is the big catalyst for Cav
I said at the start of the year that if he didnt have a storming Tour (and which by his standards, he didnt), it would cement his desire for trying to get that Olympic medal that's eluded him
MTN will have agreed to accommodate him having the time away from the road that he's gonna need - unlike Lefevere, and quite possibly Trek - and also would be ok with him riding GB Cervelo track bikes (which he'd need to do for the Track World Champs in Feb, the world Cups etc - though it'll be the special black UK Sport bikes for Rio, no doubt)
I think it can be difficult for people who dont care about the track to understand what the Olympics mean to riders like many of the GB guys, and even the likes of Viviani. It really irks Cav that he doesnt have one.
I think Cav's at a crossroads in his career. Spending the next 11 months combining track and road will give him a new goal. Then we'll see what 2017 brings.0 -

Movistar would be a great move for him. Not as a lead rider but super domestique for the alps/ pyrenees. he's a great rider.0 -

To me he is the new Zubeldia. You never really see him, but he always ghosts to a top ten placing. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

We'll see. I suspect he and Deignan will both get extensions. Landa, the Izagirres, Intxausti and Nieve are all old muckers from the Carrot days, and with at least 2 of them moving to Sky next year (if not more), I reckon Sky will want to keep Nieve. And he's never likely to win a GT but he's kept Sky having something to ride for on GC, he hasnt collapsed like poor Henao has done a couple of GTs....:-(0 -

If Henao leaves, which seems likely, does that mean that academic review of his blood values doesn't need to be released?0 -

Smith on Meintjes:
"We'd already agreed terms with his manager and we'd spoken to him. The terms had already been met and a contract had been sent to Robbie Hunter," Smith told Cyclingnews. "For some reason there was a very big U-turn from Louis, I don't blame him for that. I don't know who to blame but we'd agreed, the contract had been sent. Maybe the contract hadn't been chased up because we'd become complacent because we thought why would Louis want to leave his team, this is his team."

Sky's not for everyone but he's coming along well there, and he's a core part of their set-up going forward0 -
I can see him getting the Paris Roubaix gig next year0

Remember the rumours of a new Welsh Continental cycling team? Well bizarrely, they have just signed 4 French riders: Fabrice Seigneur (25), former Stagiare with Bretagne Seche, and now with the Sojasun Espoir u23 team, David Chopin from Cotes D'armor (a French DN1 team), and Maxime and Mathieu Lavandier from CC Etupes, another DN1 team.
Apparently they are also looking to sign riders from Aus, Ireland, NZ and Eastern Europe, with a view to going Pro Conti in 2018.
Website here: http://wawcycling.com/
interesting, wonder why they went for French riders, guess Brittany racing isn't too dissimilar to UK so probably suit them, where did you see this?
The general manager of the team used to manage a team in Vannes, and there's a strong link culturally between Britanny and Wales. The team is also planning on having a base in Britanny (in Baud, near Morbihan), with most of the riders based around there.
Looking at signing 12 riders, of which 3 French, 4 Brits and the rest international.

sounds like it could be a good set up be better for them to register as a French team so they can ride more races over there and british conti teams can only ride UCI races in France but i imagine in UK they would let a French registers conti team ride tour series and press if they so wished?0 -
Lotto sign Twan Castelijns (26) for two years.
At the amateur level, I always was a good all-round rider. I can do well in echelons, on cobblestones and on hills, and I can ride a reasonable time trialContador is the Greatest0 -

Think that's harsh.
2011 Tour - Bad crash with Vinokorov on stage 9 - hospitalised ( was in 12th place) comeback and 8th in the Vuelta
He got 4th GC in the Tour in 2012 (and 5th in Dauphine)
and was off to a good start in 2013 before a bad crash on stage 5 put him out (at 13th overall)
Then 2014 returns with a 13th - a place won with consistency rather than a one off
This year nearly top tens in the Giro
He's a GT rider - that's no doubt - how he might be used from now is another matter but he will still add something to any PT team

He is definitely a good rider but maybe I should add, as a PT team leader. But then maybe he was paid peanuts. He has been a pro since 2003 but is probably the least recognizable team leaders.Contador is the Greatest0

yes that's fair - although Lotto never seem to have really got behind him - especially having Greipel - Katusha definitely need some re-structuring if they want to be a GT team ( and the budget they have they must want to!) - they've been relying on Kristoff a lot for too long and of course Rodriguez - but 37 next year and many other riders wrong side of 34/35
Maybe they will go for Trofimov/Zakarin with assistance from JvdB0 -

Interesting article. The conversation I had was that he had signed, along with Eisel, so its interesting they are saying it isn't signed yet. I didn't know about Renshaw, but doesn't surprise me.
There was also no doubts about getting a new, bigger headline sponsor.
I do find it weird though. They are a smaller team, no doubt about that. Caves train just isn't good enough in my opinion anymore. That was obvious when he was beat my Vivani. So taking two of your old lead and good mates seems weird and dare I say it, the start of a bigger drop in results.Scott Addict 2011
