Transfers 2016 : Rumours and fact

No Jon Mould? They will need all the help they can get if they go Pro Conti, and he's one of the better riders on the team.
2013 - Team UK Youth, team folded
2014 - NFTO, not retained
2015 - One Pro, not retained
Maybe there's a significance to this pattern?
Are you sure 'not retained' isn't 'chose to move on' though?
Maybe he wants to push for a GB Olympic track squad place next season?
Umm, no
But as for the 'not retained' shizz above...as you say, Pross. For starters he had a good offer from ONE Pro - who waved the cash - same as with a number of British domestics who moved from their then teams to ONE end of last year0 -
I don't see Cav at Team Wiggins, but if he were to go there to prepare for the Olympics that would be a game changer.0

I don't see it either. He needs to go to a top tier Team.0 -
In Brad's interview yesterday where he mentioned Cav was moving teams, he didn't seem to be suggesting he'd move there. More an off the cuff, "what with Cav moving teams".0
-
Trek or MTN?
Must admit i'd like him to stay at Etixx and sort his lead out train out. he's had some bad form/luck but also he's not quite the best any more. Still taken a decent number of wins, but no longer #1...
I'd love to see him at BMC on a size 47 timemachine0 -

yeah Benton was team coach at UK Youth and so probably still coached mouldy when he was at NFTO then would have said if you still want to be coached by me ride for one pro next year, so he did. But is he that great at road racing? sure he is a top crit rider but doing 200+k road races is a different ball game.
As for the 'news' about wiggins saying he is moving teams, I thought that was already common knowledge not sure why it has been picked up like Wiggins slipped up by mentioning it.0 -
^re the Cav news, its just everyone getting over-excited, innit
Hadn't thought about the Steve Benton connection0 -
Signing a rider as 'big' as Cavendish would be a huge coup for a smaller team. If he has signed for MTN I would have thought they'd have been shouting about it.
Can we think of any top tier teams which don't announce their signings until January? Cav to Sky?0 -
Word is that Team Wiggins have signed a sizable number of U23 riders for next year0

Bernie
Thats been the rumour for a while
For starters, with the exception of 2014 when Henao crashing out of TdS made Brailsford insist him being in the Tour team despite Froome's opposition, he hasnt got a Tour ride since 2012. And that would continue to be the case unless he moves.
And Bernie misses riding the Tour.
It may not just be riders who go with Cav btw.0 -
Holm and Aldag?0

Remember the rumours of a new Welsh Continental cycling team? Well bizarrely, they have just signed 4 French riders: Fabrice Seigneur (25), former Stagiare with Bretagne Seche, and now with the Sojasun Espoir u23 team, David Chopin from Cotes D'armor (a French DN1 team), and Maxime and Mathieu Lavandier from CC Etupes, another DN1 team.
Apparently they are also looking to sign riders from Aus, Ireland, NZ and Eastern Europe, with a view to going Pro Conti in 2018.

First I've heard of that team oddly. Seems a high risk setup if they are intending to jump straight into an oversees racing programme but hope it works. Really hope the race jersey is nothing like shown in that link though!0

Me neither. Far too small a Team for Cav.0 -

interesting, wonder why they went for French riders, guess Brittany racing isn't too dissimilar to UK so probably suit them, where did you see this?0 -

The general manager of the team used to manage a team in Vannes, and there's a strong link culturally between Britanny and Wales. The team is also planning on having a base in Britanny (in Baud, near Morbihan), with most of the riders based around there.
Looking at signing 12 riders, of which 3 French, 4 Brits and the rest international.

It's the first time I have read anyone adamantly state that is where he is going. People post crap on the Internet all the time and I obviously would like to know the source so that I can decide for myself.
I'm struggling with this if true. They are a ***** little Team and he deserves better. Yes, I know they won stages at the TdF - bkah, blah, blah. Doesn't change my perception.0 -

Get used to it. That's where he's going. With Renshaw.-- Dirk Hofman Motorhomes --0 -
Cav's a strange one for me at the moment.
It seems clear that he's not the sprint force he once was. The last two years haven't been what we've been used to. I wonder how long he can expect contracts based on past performance rather than current form.
Gaviria yesterday showed the sort of kick Cav once had. Has that gone forever?Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
I really hope he doesn't go to MTN, bringing his attitude and his dogs Renshaw and Eisel. I couldn't care less whether it was a good move for him, I am more concerned whether it is a bad move for the existing riders and from MTN's original aim. Africa getting shafted again by the bloody Brits!Contador is the Greatest0
