Shock Horror! - Cherries win a match against 11 players. Now waiting for Daily Mail's next anti Cherries article. Even more surprisingly is the BBC Football League show had the Wigan v Cherries as their featured match. I think that makes it twice now as an extended highlights game featuring Bournemouth. Manish and Leroy still seem somewhat bemused that a club with max capacity of about 10,500 are still top of league.

Tuesday could see a shift at the top.

    Cherries v Rams
    Mechs v Boro
    Bees v Hornets (huh)
    Tractor Boys v Owls

Yep, one of the top 2 or both will drop points tomorrow and we play the bottom side in the league. Give us a draw and we'll be very grateful

Two months + at the top came to an end last night. A creditable draw against the Rams. Well done Boro. Keep grinding out those wins.

  • With 5 mins to go it was looking like a fantastic night for us creeping up towards the play-offs. A few late goals and it's not quite so good :-(

We're top of the League.... :)

    For now.

By the end of play this saturday I expect the Cherries to be in 4th place. It's been a good run but I think the squads of the promotion favourites (start of season) are now starting to show their mettle.

    Thank you Rotherham.

  • Well a 5-0 stuffing of Rotherham on Saturday was a pleasant surprise. No doubt we will be back to earth with a bump tomorrow night against a relegation threatened Fulham.

Cherries away to a resurgent Forest on Weds. There could be trouble ahead. Not good having a bad patch when all the other contenders are winning and some of the pre season favourites coming back into form. Oh woe is me.

  • We play you next Tuesday, hopefully we will have a ref that doesn't decide to send half our team off ;-)

11 vs 11 sounds more even than 12 vs 9...
  • Blimey! 5-0 on Saturday and 3-0 at Half Time tonight.... things are looking up.
  • Going to see Boro vs Millwall tonight. Hopefully Karanka will stop his tinkering. 6 points dropped the last 2 games. Leadbitter, Tomlin and Friend should be starting every game, and Kike isn't a starting striker.

Ahem, our goal difference is still woeful and way off the rest of the clubs in the play offs.

The clean sheets are a welcome addition though but we simply don't have the cutting edge we need to challenge and the leap between top of the championship to the bottom tier of the Premiership is the widest it has ever been and will continue to grow due to the TV revenues flowing into the Premiership clubs. I can't believe how well the chit are doing, 7 goals, none conceded in their last 4 games but id rather have other midlands teams (even the chit) doing well rather than the mancs, cockneys or scousers.

Maybe we should be content in where we are. Our fans have a horrendous reputation for expectation, second only to newcastle fans which belies little understanding on the economies and pressure most football teams face.

Slowmart - I've always said that I would love to see the premier league with ALL the Midlands clubs in. Back when I was a nipper, we had Wolves, West ****, Villa, Blouses, Stoke, Cov, Derby, Forest, Leicester... good times for a Midlands fan. Now we are lucky to get 3 or 4 of those at one time.

It is a compelling league this year, as soon as anyone look to be pulling ahead of the pack, they go and lose.

8 clubs within 8 points, tighter than a ducks chuff.

Norwich are on fire though, timing their run well and wouldn't surprise me to see them go top in three matches time against Derby.
Derby then host Boro and that will have a huge impact on who comes second.
Whatever happens, it's building up to be an exciting finish to the season.

If we manage to keep our run going against Bournemouth tomorrow, then by Wednesday evening, they could be outside the playoffs!

By 5pm on Saturday Cherries will be out of play-offs. Couple months ago they couldn't stop scoring. Now they are struggling to find the net and all the other teams above and below are in most cases winning. Watford, Wolves and Norwich coming into good form.

Yay, The Boro go top again but it's still tight as hell at the top - 6 points between the top 7 teams with 9 or 10 games still to play.

Shocked will have had a good evening out.

Praise the Lord! Cherries win. First win in six games. Any Brentford supporters on here? They are going really well and not getting the attention they deserve.
Just need Canaries to slip up on Weds, which in this league is always possible.

I did. The first goal was fantastic. Friend and Adomah stood out for me, excellent down the left with overlaps and Adomah cutting inside.

It's a shame Vossen can't start every game ((crippling appearance fee apparently). I reckon he'd bang on in most days.

The season ticket holders at work were very edgy about tonights game, they are well aware that after the derby win on Sunday the game this evening provides the perfect opportunity for football to show how it can suddenly turn round and punch you in the balls. Playing second bottom at home just appears so easy on paper, especially given Norwich's recent form.

Maybe the departure of Dave Whelan inspired Wigan to get their act together.

Those that went said they looked tired, no real zip to them for the first time in a while. Ipswich lost too lastnight so maybe they were both mentally tired after Sundays match.

Thats what I had been saying about the Cherries prior to beating Wolves/Fulham. Your turn now.
