    I've hit 70kg's

A weekend in Edinburgh, some Guinness, some Vino, some food, some more food. So not a lot really.
Can't think why I put on weight.

Half a kilo lost this week, just seems to be SO much easier at this time of the year.
Salads a plenty, lots of water, not much bread, naff all alcohol, and it's just working really well - just have to try and figure out how to try and keep things more stable over the winter.
How much to most people put on over the winter?
I'd like to change it from a stone (6.35kg) to around half or less than half of that amount really.

    Extra motivations at the moment:
    - Still newish bike to me, the placebo effect has not worn off yet
    - Strava segments to have a go at, creeping up the board
    - Riding with my local bike shops organised rides - wish I had tried it ages ago, really enjoyable, great to have a bit of friendly competition (especially up the hills) and a chat as well, and also now I find myself pushing more on the flat that I would do normally on my lonesome.
    - Entered ride london, so big old target for me in some 8 weeks time
    - All above is helping me hit the turbo pretty hard and regularly
    - Commute to new workplace appears to be pretty viable, more test rides to carry out to perfect it beforehand.

I can easily put on a stone between the end of BST and the new year. Shorter days and colder, wetter weather seem to directly affect my brain / state of mind. Even when I can keep the depression at bay I'm less inclined to do exercise, and I just don't fancy eating healthy fruit and veg based food. And then all the dangerously calorific, sugar and fat laden festive food and confectionery starts to appear at work, multiple christmas dinners, and more alcohol in 6 weeks than I drink in the rest of the year. It's a perfect obesity storm.

I need to retire so we can buy a holiday home somewhere warm. Nice tarmac and freshly grilled seafood & salad on the beach from October to March. Then I'll stay skinny...

Yes, I know but I have been eating more than I usually do.
It's a simple equation; more calories consumed than burnt. Doesn't take a lot.
I'm like Keef in winter, SAD unfortunately. So in winter, I loose momentum given a week or so of bad weather and rain.
However, on the flip side, I am doing more, the strength is increasing. I cannot resist being out when there's a warm/dry patch. Just need more of the latter. Today was rollers but I don't mind 45mins to 1hr on them. Keeps me loose too.

Ha ha! I flattened the laundry rack, dented the old sink unit in the kitchen and came a cropper against the sliding doors.
    So I bought a T bar:

ahahaha, yes I have a set in the garage bought from Evans I think many moons ago, tried them in a doorway probably 5 years ago, but as soon as it crossed my mind that 'ah I think I may have this' I would veer off to the side

Then I discovered smart trainers, and direct drive, and I'm not convinced, unless I get into velodroming seriously, that they will get an airing again.
Additionally they are pan flat, and not conically shaped like some.

it would appear that at least the 3 of us on here are a SAD bunch - stop sniggering you lot!

Things stalled a bit over the last couple of months for various reasons but managed not to put much on (again, not drinking almost certainly helps with this plus of course near-daily activity in the form of the commute). Anyway, things back on track so I'm logging progress while I can. And with that additional kilo, I'm now closer to my goal weight than my start weight...small victories...

What's that line in Get Carter? Something along the lines of '...you're in a bad way...full time job...'.

    Not nice itb.

    #gavascon

Me i'm 66.1 kg's me. On the days between rides, I have been doing this fitness thingy as a trial: 5 mins warm up (on the rollers), 4 mins flat out, 5 mins cool down.
The cardio vascular side of things given my dodgy immune system, under active thyroid, bi-lateral hip replacements (twice revised), low testosterone levels/low Adrenalin and previous medical history, has always left me flat. No matter how good my prep/post ride actions. So this trial is for 6 weeks. We'll see how I get on.

Is the thread dead baby, the thread's dead. ?

That's your fault Itboffin. I am down to 63.5 kg's.
This is the double constraint: light enough to go uphill a bit quicker, not enough energy to do it.

I've had Silent reflux. This explains the coughing, the phlegm, the sore stomach, headaches, poor recovery.
On the mend now with Omaprezole. I'm even cycling!

Though it's mainly self inflicted. My penchant for hot and spicy has partly burnt the esophagus.

OT: The bloody scale requires you to agree to sell your soul and your first born son before even measuring a single time! I get it's smart, but maybe it can do the dumb things too? Anyway, now the scale tells me my weight (too high), my amount of fat (too much), my muscle mass (too little), my progress (dismal) and then offers to check the weather. In Edinburgh. For 20p sake, haven't you told me enough bad news?
