What's all this updating when you've gained weight...no need, shurely? :)

Putting in a cheeky end-of-week update, generally my weight bottoms out for the week around Thu/Fri, actually I could probably have left it till tomorrow and sneaked another pound or so. The weekend ahead not looking too bad in terms of opportunities to be greedy, and I seemed to have survived the birthday/easter ('beaster') long weekend without any issues, although when I weighed myself on Monday morning I'd fluctuated up to around 108kg after an especially greedy birthday - ah, the joys of water weight when you're large of stature.

This week managed a club MTB night ride on Tuesday after commuting during the day, first time I've ever done that so was pretty nervous about how the legs would be. Not only survived it, but felt pretty strong - pleasing, especially considering I was on my steel 26er single speed. Admittedly it was rather a flat route but what hills there were didn't pose a problem. Losing a bit of weight makes such a difference.

Anyway, enough ramblings from me, but worth celebrating these mini-victories along the way I guess.

Some really good progress for me over the last few weeks, not updated this for a while.

My turbo sessions are really spurring me on, and rode a 67 miler yesterday (Longest ride for around a year I think) and loved it, and came back not knackered, although had been pushing for a high percentage of the ride.

This also motivates me not to eat and drink thinks that are detrimental to me, so I found it a compound effect.

Looking at my weigh over the last 3 years (How long I have been weighing myself regularly), I'm about 3kg lighter than I was this time in corresponding years, so all looking pretty positive.
I've also upped my water intake a lot - but still within safe amounts, try and have 4-5 pints (of water!) per day.

Another 'trick' which seems to work for me, and I have been taking advantage of in recent weeks, is if I have a hard turbo session either early doors, or late morning, when I get off the bike, I have a BCAA supplement in a shaker thingy, and then follow that up with a whey protein one - not only have I seen this making a good impact on my power and recovery, but it also means I am not hungry, and can substitute those two 'shakes' for breakfast or lunch, depending on time of day.

Just about to go and batter myself on the turbo now, and will see if I can do the same today, no stress if not though.

EDIT: yeh that didn't work, really hungry, feeding my cakehole now :D

This may not work for you keef, but I LOVE chocolate wayyyyyy too much - I've recently ordered some cacao chocolate button things, they are pretty bitter, but I find if I have one when I have a craving for chocolate, depsite it not really being that pleasant as it were, it seems to abate the craving.

I'm sure it is down to the individual in most cases though, so no guarantees, and maybe if you are able to just keep the house free of chocolate that is a simpler solution.
My issue is that we have a co-op about 1 minutes walk away (no joking there - it is THAT clsoe) and it is open from 6-11, AND always has offers on 4 packs of chocolate bars, Wispa, Chunky Kitkat's etc, you get the idea

No update at the minute from me, I've seemed to hit a wall in motivation currently which has left me bouncing around the 100kg mark. Need to get out on the bike more again and get the miles in, in preparation for L2B and the RL100. Doing a Charity 6km run yesterday has made me realise why I like bing on wheels so much :D I never hurt like this after a hard ride!

I'm generally quite well behaved at home, but the big problem for me is my colleagues. It used to be the case that occasionally somebody would come back from holiday with some of the local sweets / pastries. Fair enough, and gone in 10 minutes.
Now it seems to be a daily occurrence that calorific food of all kinds appears for no obvious reason, and it's right in my eyeline. Today's meant to be one of my 5:2 days but I'm eating Haribo. We also have Mr Kipling cakes, some traditional Lakeland gingerbread, mini choco Liebnitz biscuits and some white chocolate / wafer combo.
Think I may need to have my jaws wired shut...

I've been fluctuating up and down by 3-4lbs all year so far, due to a mix of work, travel and bad weather limiting my time on Z bike.

Today I'm at my lowest weight in 10 months, not diet or cycling but walking a few miles each day.

I've stopped walking the woofer in the mornings for 3 months on the premise of getting more sleep, and am quite amazed at the effect that gentile 2 1/2 mile walk had on me... think I need to start walking the dog again.

    But I like my sleep...

In August last year, we discovered our cheap analogue scales were broken when I stood on them and they stopped at 8 stones, same as everyone else in the house hold.

We got some new digital scales, I'm 37 height 169cm and in August I was 93kg. In two months I lost 20kg just by making small changes to diet, reduced portion sizes and moving more.

I had a few blips going back up to 77kg but back on it again, back down to 74kg with another 10kg to to get my BMI in normal range.

I've done a few spin classes at the gym and commute 10 miles each way and now again controlling food intake. Back from a 35 mile ride AVG 15mph 350ft climbing. I do a 5km run three/four times a week and as many press ups and sit ups I can manage in the day.

Pork and Apple burger with side salad, coleslaw, inion rings and fries for me today.
Followed by Belgian waffle with ice cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkled nuts.
Washed down with a very smooth Lavazza Latte.

ITboffin would be proud of me. Tash's keyboard will suffer. Bzzzzt.

I had better do some pedalling over the weekend.

I was in Londinium Tuesday and Wedesday for a training course, and stayed overnight.

Food at the venue was plentiful, very tasty, and also lots of cake and biscuits.
Tuesday evening I walked several miles across London, and ended up watching the Giro highlights at the"look mum no hands" cafe - went for the LMNH burger, which came with fries, avocado, bacon, cheese, fried egg (cooked just right) and a smidge of salad.
Followed this up for dessert with some pear and pistachio cake, and a really nice hot chocolate.

Somehow I don't appear to have put on any weight though - suspect most of this may be down to drinking very little alcohol this year really.

And ensure that to have "earned" the calories, ride up from the south coast!

It was well worth a visit - my hotel, was only 6 minutes walk away, but as I had time to burn, I took a circuitious route around all my old haunts from when I used to work in London, and then felt I had earned my very large burger and associated bits and bobs.
I remember when they used to film 'The Cycle Show' in there back in the day, shame that died a death. Irish chap presented it first, and then Matt someone, Borbet or something?
Been gone several years now though.

Annoyingly Dan i'm back to my 2016 FTP but very aware that a sharp dig might go all Dumoulin very quickly, that said I rode over a mile plus 350 Watts on the road and again today on the turbo for 5 mins, without incident

Sorry to hear that matey, sounds grim, hope you are well on the road to getting it sorted?

Shame about the ftp, but you may find you come back stronger and eclipse it, and I suspect your current ftp would still be higher than me at my fittest!
    No consolation though I appreciate.

Strong (to me) 5 minute power outputs though.

Oops, 2.3kg on over the half-term escape to Cornwall. I can report that the pasties, cream teas, fish & chips & beer were all upto standard. I'm sure I can shift it all again fairly quickly though. back on the wagon as of this morning :)
