Well last year (2011) was the reverse for me, I managed to gain the weight I sort of lost in 2010, must try harder in 2012.

Let the pain and suffering begin

Well I'm back where I started. At leasts it's not a gain. My clothes fit better though. Going to take it a bit more seriously this year and watch what I eat as well as cycling a 100 miles a week. I'm considering doing some running as well, trouble is I don't like running......

Started 2 years ago at 336lbs down to 294lbs on holiday this August, lost 19 lbs since then by increasing milage to 120 miles per week all on a hybrid. When I reach 252lbs the wife is going to buy me a road bike.

Am I the only person who still uses stones? =/ Weights all in pounds are hard for me to process; I don't know my 14-times table (we stopped at 12 - and even then we only went up to 12 lots of it). I reckon you lot must watch too much "The Biggest Loser" or something! :D

I can't believe how many people use lbs! In the bike weight thread, most people have used Kg - why do people use lbs for their own weight?

I can relate to weights in Kg if they're close to 86Kg, as that's about what I am. Much beyond a few Kg away from that, and it's more difficult to process easily, even though I know there are 2.2lb to the Kg. I'm in my forties, and as a kid we always did weights in stones and pounds, and heights in feet and inches. Similar to buying in pints, or driving in mph, those measurements seemed to evade metrification; but my kids know their own weights and heights in Kg and cm. I blame the schools.

  • It's only since I've got into cycling have I really got used to the whole Kg thing for people's weights - which is why I'm surprised about the lack of it here. I'm 47 and only just a metric child though I'm very comfortable with it. In fact I'm pretty comfortable with either system (except F which means absolutely nothing to me - give me Celsius)

Actually I use kg as well usually. I had to download a conversion app so I could put it in a language others could understand.

Having had a glance at last year's thread seems I've put on a few kilos. Ah well.
75 atm. Anywhere between 70 and 80 kilos will do me fine this year, depending whether I spend more time on the bike or in the gym

Yes I could have used kg or st but lbs are better because they're a smaller unit of measurement without resorting to something stupid like oz or grams.

I need to see every pound (lb) of encouragement I can get, BTW all bets are OFF for the rest of this year

    I still use stones.

Not putting targets down, I like junk food too much to make them. But hopefully I'll keep going down (albeit slowly) as I've been doing for the past couple of months.

I started last year as a 36" waist and just on 13stone (182lbs) to just over 12stone and 32" jeans - no intent to lose any more weight this year.

I'm not sure that really counts as weight loss.

I'll keep my target (and progress) to myself for now ... partly because I don't want to trash the table format like many others have.
