Fine work Sir - especially on the alcohol - curry nights are tricky, assuming you are going out to eat rather than at a mates house? I also find the more I exercise and the fitter I become, the less I want alcohol - not sure why the correlation, but I'll take it!

Funny time for me again, night away, cheesecake and crumble (Allegedly healthy versions) beers and wine consumed, full English on the Saturday, plus biscuits and chocolate last night, so was convinced I would have put some weight on, but instead have lost another 200g - confused, but I'll take that! First time I have actually been ahead of my target.
In theory, 600g to go - target in 9 weeks - sounds easy.

I'm putting this down to a hard week of turbo sessions, including two brutal 90 minuters, only 15 hours apart. Guessing that must have burnt a fair chunk of calories.

I haven't had any alcohol since March. I think I could get drunk on a Sherry Trifle.

I'm not T total, it's just having young kids and working opposite shifts to the OH. As I get older, the hangovers get worse (even with the slightest bit of alcofrol)... or is that I have to be up at silly o'clock whereas before, I would just sleep it off?
Difficult to get drunk - i'm usually fast asleep waaaay before I get to the drunk stage.

Jeez, what happened?! I remember starting at 10am in O'Hagan's bar, Cheltenham Gold Cup day (2000), and 11 pints later at 2am, I was still standing.

I was under 68kg when I got home yesterday so I had a fry-up and a piece of Konditor & Cook lemon chiffon cake for breakfast today.

    That's how this works, right?

    So...........
last week, and even upto Friday I was 63.1kg.

No cycling over the weekend, and it was my gf's Birthday on Sunday, and we had a fireworks party type thing on Saturday.
So Saturday was sausages in white rolls, and quite a few different types of alcohol, off the top of my head, red wine (A nice Argentinian Merlot), Sangria, and a very nice IPA - eclectic mix.
Weighed myself in the morning, and had shot up to 64.3 - 1.2kg!

Sunday was more of the same really, scrambled eggs, and smoked salmon for breakfast (Don't think that is too bad for you perse) nothing bad for lunch, but we did have a reasonable bit of birthday cake mid afternoon, of and some (4 each probably) chocolates she was gifted (Not by me) and then in the evening we went for an Indian takeaway, though did not manage to eat it all, and also had some GU cheesecake for afters, oh and then maybe some Baileys before bed.

Weighed myself this morning, and I am now 64.9!
So in two days, I have put on 1.8kg, or 4lbs in old money - I didn't even think that was possible really!

Is that normal then, genuinely interested - is it purely the calorific value that makes this, what seems to me, as a percentage, to be a fairly large increase. Curious to see how long it takes me to shift this, and get back down to where I previously was.
To potentially compound it, this week I have an easy week of workouts on the turbo, so not the usual calorie burning will be occurring - FTP on Saturday.

its physically impossible to put that much fat or muscle on in such a short period of time.

The weight increase you are seeing is water weight ... I cant remember the numbers but is around "for every 1g of carb you r body holds it will attach to 3g of water"

so if you gorge out on two thousand bread rolls you will weigh a crap load more the next day ... it will reduce over the next few days.

Also ... SALT ... if yo ate a load of salt during the party ... crisps etc ? ... again you will store water

Cheers FD - there were a fair few crisps in there too now you mention it (Fine detective skills sir), and they are of course super salty, especially if they are salt and black peppercorn this that and the other, so that makes a lot of sense.
So going with the 1g\3g ratio, that could suggest I have in theory put on 450g in genuine weight, and the rest is fluid, which should in theory de-materialise in the next few days?
Due to the apparent spike in weight, I elected not to have any rocky road that someone in the office had made, and will make sure I eat sensibly for this coming week, especially with the reduced intensity on the bike, as I have worked pretty hard to get to where I am at, and I know how easy it is for me to get disillusioned if it goes back up by x amount, and then I go and binge on Wispas or chunky Kitkats and compound the issue still further

That's interesting, and heartening to read.

That is quite a swing in a relatively short space of time eh, I imagine the process of getting back down will not be as fast....?

Also interesting what you say about your normal weight being 73 - I have a suspicion mine is around the 67 mark, but want to be lighter as I go faster up hills, and I believe it's (63) a realistic weight to maintain.
What are you aiming to get back down to, or do you just go until you believe it feels about right?

"I have no idea what packet of lebkucken you mean darling, are you sure you picked one up? ".... :cough:

Mrs Pinno ate 2 of the 6 in the packet on the sly. If I sneak them in, I guess there's a concessionary price to pay. I never mentioned it and perhaps she'll never mention it, I wonder how long this will go on for...

    She's quite well restrained.
In this household we count our taxes in the number of packets, not biscuits.

Signs that we might be heading down that dangerous and slippery slope... damn.
That means that this time next year, I might have to buy myself one of those... more sturdy whadjemacallem... Mountain bikes.

in the last year or so ive gone from 66kg to weighing in this morning at 75kg (i know im more like 73kg normally) but a big weekend and a month off training in october will do this to me.

i feel shoot, fat, slow, and unhealthy. so im back in the gym and back training properly agian. i will get back below 70kg and i will get fit and thin again.

What are you aiming to get back down to, or do you just go until you believe it feels about right?
so i was 85kg a few years ago, worked hard, got down to 70kg and then floated from there to about 72kg for a year. made a push to get as light as i possibly could and got to 66kg 2 years ago...

then i became single and was out 3 or 4 nights a week drinking, eating out etc, then the season ended and i went back to 68-70kg and slowly its crept back up.

Im back down to 73kg today, i know how to do this. i will do it. and i will get it back under control.

Well I majorly fell off the wagon this week

Had a cold, so no cycling since Monday, and my planned FTP on Saturday was canned, and I succumbed and ate a LOT of comfort food.............

Off the top of my head:

    8 Wispa bars
    4 Twirl Bars
Big flat bar of caramel chocolate from Lidl
    Some Thorntons
    Some other chocolate
3 slices of carrot cake (One was for chariddddy)
2 slices of coffee and walnut cake (Birthday cake for the missus)
1 slice of red velvet cake (This was for chariddddy too)
1 slice of chocolate swiss roll (Free (From calories...?) cake at work)
2 portions of sticky toffee pudding and custard
2 portions of chocolate cookie crumble (One more to come tonight in fact, well it's open so it needs eating)
    Fry up yesterday morning
    Pancakes this morning
Couple of bottles of wine, some beer, and a fair amount of baileys (Helped my sore throat...)
There were some biscuits in there as well.

So yeh, as spectacular falls from grace, I think that is pretty darned comprehensive.
Typing it all out, makes me feel pretty embarrassed really, which comes as a bit of a relief.
I guess the addictive properties of sugar are there for all to see.

Feeling mostly better now, so planning to get back on the wagon, and on the bike this week, and hopefully undo the bad work I have managed over the last week.

Feel fortunate to only be up 2kg really since 2 weeks ago, but imagine the ripple effect may take a while to come to full fruition, so ideally hoping to maintain this weight for next week, and at this point in time I would be happy to take that, and then see if I can get back down to where I was by Christmas.

I'm happy I don't have to do miles on the bike because of a Daniel B type of addiction.

Anyway, Blue Planet 2 is on. GTG.

Still can't shift this sodding cold, getting on the bike regardless this afternoon, sometimes that does help - gets some air through the system - back on track today, regular smoothie for breakfast, and no cake (Or Baileys!)

got made redundant on thursday, ive eaten loads of comfort food since. put on 0.5kg since then. but still hovering around the high 73kg mark. will sort it out again this week.
