    Weird one - despite having the scales tell me I was 63.8, or 63.7 three or four times last week (I don't usually weigh myself that frequently, but being that close to my target meant I wanted to know if I was slipping) on the actual day that counts, I was back up to 64.5 - no discernible reason that I could tell, but there we go.
    Still 1kg to go, and very nearly at a 10kg milestone.

    First time weighing myself in a few months. Good to drop below 120kg.
    I know my problem - in the evenings over the last week, I've eaten 2 packs of choc digestive biscuits because they were there, and I was too tired to think of something more suitable to eat.

    Still, it's going down, and I've lost 4.3 inches from the waist, and 2 from the chest.
    Legs on the other hand...
    Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

    A week in Italy at the end of August, so have waited a couple pf weeks to see what the damage was, only an extra 0.5kg so not too bad, determined to get this done now though, so back on the 5:2 diet this week

    500g bites the dust - still in with a chance of hitting my target weight by the hill climb, two weeks today.
    Delighted to hit double figures for amount lost now - nearly 9 months in, slowly but surely.

    Having said all that, I'm not 100% sure I am drinking enough water at the moment. Going to make a concerted effort to consume 4 pints or 2 litres per day, outside of exercise and recovery drinks/nutrition.

    @Wolfsbane - I edited your entry, as you were showing as 19.6kg, which would admittedly give you an incredible power to weight ratio I would imagine :D

    Also, 100% with you there on the chocolate biscuits, or any biscuits or chocolate come to that, which is why I mustn't allow myself to buy any - luckily most people in my house are of the same mindset, though I did destroy a pack of malted milks the other day - 3 at a time, so easy to munch on :?

  • If there was ever an evil in this world it comes in the form of packets of biscuits. They are the absolute worst. AS above, if they are in the house I cannot not have a few with my cup of tea, & when you have 3 cups of tea a day or ore that quickly becomes a problem.
    Only solution is to never buy them I guess, but have now hit upon the idea that I might allow myself to have one day a week to eat all the junk & then 6 days off

    Or do as I do and not have tea. If there was a packet of Hobnobs in the cupboard or anything for that matter, it would be: kettle on and dunk... and dunk... and dunk. So I forgo tea.

    By eck, I don't do things by halves Pinno, it's either all or nothing with me :D

    I don't drink a lot of tea anymore, more Coffee, but it's fine as long as there are NO biscuits in the vicinity!

    Don't get me started on custard creams or chocolate digestives!

    Having said all the above in the previous reply, I've had a non healthy eating weekend.

    Yesterday was bacon and cheese for lunch on crumpets, choc ice and ales (Velo) in the evening with a curry.
    Today was sunday roast out a pub for my bro's 50th, with 2 more ales (Doombar) and despite being stuffed full, I then went with a lovely crumble and custard for dessert, and then when we got home, my gf had made a coffee and walnut cake for him, which is my favourite cake, so I just had a slice of that, and will probably indulge more before the night is through!

    Not sure how long my 64 is going to last :shock:

    I envisage some hard work ahead.

    Work? No hang on, that's just plain unreasonable of me... let me think about it a while...

    Baking. Yes, baking... no, counter productive. Hmm... this is tricky.

    I think a long term plan which involves children. You end up running around like a mad thing cooking, cleaning, entertaining them, feeding them etc etc, that you can have as many cups of tea as you like. Twins or triplets should kick it off*.

    *This may be flawed given other circumstances but there's always the adoption agency.

    My recommendation, if you can't take or hire a bike, is to take running gear (All you need is shorts, shoes, socks and tops), and tap out 3 miles of varying intensity once a day - preferably early in the day, or late afternoon worked for me best.

    There is full English and full English. There is nothing particularly wrong in the ingredients, it's the cooking methods and cutting corners on quality which are a problem...

    Look: both eggs and black pudding are these days classifed as "super foods"... beans are good, tomatoes are good, mushrooms are good. Bacon has nitrites and saturated fat + salt, so not so good, but one slice won't kill anybody. Good sausages are acceptable, despite the high fat content. Ashbrowns are potatoes and onions, so all good.
    As nutrition goes, it's much better than virtually any box of Kellogg's

    Of course the 2.99 fryup is essentially junk fried in junk, but the 8 quid one is actually very good

    I like the raw Yolk actually, it's the white i'm not keen on.
    However, in summer, my post 60 mile + recovery rides consists of:

    1 spoon of drinking chocolate mixed to a paste with a drop of milk in a bowl.
    2-3 generous scoops of Vanilla ice cream
    Half a pint of milk.

    Mix the chocolate paste, ice cream and milk until soft and creamy with a wooden spoon and then add 2 whole eggs and whisk.

    Protein, carbohydrate (mostly sugar) and some great vitamins in the eggs yolks and the chocolate helps you absorb liquid apparently.

    If you plan to do this, don't do it in the blender - it goes to mush.
