Right, just spent time on this sorting all weights into KG and removing heights, no one gives a f**k how tall you are.

To be fair, nobody gives a f**k how much you weigh either. Personally I'm 2cm taller than I was last week, but then I'd lost 5cm the week before. Aiming to be 7ft by the end of the year.

It's a weight loss topic, so some people may be interested in your weight / progress
It is, but a few people use BMI as an indicator and height counts there

Not really, I'm well over my 'ideal' BMI index but have a low body fat. BF% is the only real indicator of ones progress in that respect.

Muscle weighs more than fat and all that jazz....

yep, hence me saying a few people use BMI, rather than saying BMI is actually any good as an indicator (likewise people fussing about absolute calories rather than what they're actually eating). Anyway, off topic now

Formally taken another 1.2kg off, as in the last 2 weeks of measuring at the same time of day I've not moved more than 25g away.

I know I lost more earlier in the year, but I've since found the biscuit barrel...)
However, the blood pressure, and lung function are coming on leaps and bounds still.

Does your car if you have one measure speed in MPH, are the signs on the motorways in MPH or KM, do you shop in Euros or Pounds here in the UK ?

and before you ask NO i'm not a brexit die hard nut job, i'm all for Europe and personally think leaving is one of the more stupid things we've "collectively" agreed on.

My point (made on page 1, you read everyone right?) is this thread is for people to track their own weights against target, you and many use kg, i used lbs and some st all personal prefs. This thread is in CC not road general or BB (silly) applies as much as off topic if not more.

whoo hoo .... well I made my target of getting to sub 70kg a good while back, Now eating loads more and lifting 3 times a week and slowly moved up to 74kg

the blob of fat under by pecs when I flex them is not returning, which is my indicator of too much fat ... ab definition is waning though ... reckon I can go another month or so before I have to stop eating again

Cycling performance at 77kg - mediocre
Cycling performance at 70kg - mediocre
Cycling performance at 74kg less fat more muscle - mediocre

conclusions .... 7kg here or there doesn't make dick all to performance, if you are crap you are crap .... BUT ... 7kg here or there does a lot for your looks

7kg won't make much difference to performance on the bike, only uphill I would imagine, carrying 10% less weight would make a decent difference on a long climb.
But have you been training with intensity on the bike during the time you have been losing weight?

If not, then I think what you have seen is to be expected.

If you are pushing yourself, hill climbing should have major time gains. I was ~90Kg a year ago, now ~74Kg, been trying to improve my bike fitness since January... Hills are now hell of a lot easier, what were ~4min climbs back when I joined Strava last September are now easily sub 3mins.

Yes .. thing is I have only been cycling for a year ... so I am improving on a linear basis pretty much, my Strava times continue to fall ..... my general improvement in bike fitness I think masks any improvement that loosing weight makes

I guess the important thing is its an all uphill trend ..... although since I have started eating properly again, I have had a lot less bad days on the bike ... I might leave the house with my legs feeling completely shot ... but still have the power to put in good times, where as when I was at 70kg and lacking enough nutrition, quite often it would be a struggle !

Quote the most recent post with the table in it, and copy out the bit from [ code]
all the way through to [ /code]

Then just add a line in for your own name, starting weight, target etc etc - you might need to play with the dots to get it to line up.

How does one go about editing the table?

    Currently at 112.2kg
Target is 95kg (which I was at a couple of years back before I got married!
and most importantly, height is 196cm

Quote the most recent post with the table in it, and copy out the bit from [ code]
all the way through to [ /code]

Then just add a line in for your own name, starting weight, target etc etc - you might need to play with the dots to get it to line up.

the first page has some tips on editing
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

So I've started using Garmin Connect (previously only used Strava) with a Garmin Forerunner 35 so I'm recording steps as well as activities (commutes mainly). I've linked this with logging calories consumed in MyFitnessPal. This has meant I'm thinking more about what I'm eating and as such I've lost 1.6kg in a week!

I'm actually concerned about losing weight too quickly now. I'm really struggling to consume enough calories, even though I'm still eating 3 meals a day along with occasional snacks. On the days I commute (around 3 times a week), Garmin Connect/MyFitnessPal says I'm sometimes eating 1000+ calories less than my target, but I don't want to force feed myself when I'm actually feeling full and have eaten enough.

Go with what your body is telling you as the calorie estimates in the app are hugely approximate. My garmin connect also syncs with strava and here is what each of them have to say for the same bike activity:

    Raw data:
    13.8 miles in 59m20secs (Ave speed 14mph 715ft climbing)

    Strava says 515 calories
    Garmin connect says 794 calories.

Heart rate data has the possiblity of making this estimate more accurate but I can't be bothered to put the HRM sensor on for most rides so its hard for me to easily find out if this is true for garmin connect.

Yep, I'm getting similar differences between Strava and Garmin Connect calculations of calories. I am using a (wrist based) HRM as it's built into the Forerunner 35. I've set it up so that Garmin actually does the Strava upload for me, but it is still wildly different.

Fair enough. I wasn't sure if the forerunner you were using had the built in HRM and I didn't know if it influenced the estimated calories in Garmin Connect. Sounds like it doesn't.

Ultimately if you are eating enough not to feel hungry and are loosing weight it doesn't really matter. 1.6kg is about 3.5lbs so its not really a huge weight drop for a week.My weight can fluctuate that much from week to week and I'm not really trying loose or gain weight. Even if you kept dropping that much a week from what I've read no doctor would be worried. Eventually you will hit a plateau where your weight stabilises even if your eating and exercise habits don't change. At least that has been my experience having dropped from 17st to 13.5st over the course of a couple of years. Once I hit 14st I didn't really change anything but the loss slowed down and seems now to have stopped at 13.5st.
