I had similar thoughts. Then again, maybe i dropped weight too fast? (from 89 kg to 72kg in 9 months at 180cm) I did not feel weak, but was very prone to catching colds especially with someone constantly ill in the house. 2 kg of fat back on and feel much more resilient. I am not saying that's the way to go, i must have done something wrong, since many are way leaner than me and are in good health.

If you were 100kg then, fine, weight is something you can look as an easy measure. But at 180cm and 74kg then you could quite easily work on strength or speed (or some other more objective measure) and find that your shape or performance changes and the weight doesn't change at all.
I'm 178cm and 75kg. At the moment that 75kg doesn't change. If I do strength work I get leaner and the weight stays the same. If I don't, I get fatter and the weight stays the same.
Anyway, point is that there are far better metrics than your weight to focus on once you're in the 'healthy BMI' ballpark.

My point entirely - which you nicked

You can be chubby and healthy but chubby doesn't go uphill quick.
I want to be sub 67 ideally - just so I can give the boys some stick. It takes a disproportionate amount of energy to haul that extra 500 grams uphill. At my current weight, ascending isn't fun.

Nope, as had not calculated the percentage.
My proper pre being lazy and eating crap period is 67kg, so from there to 63kg is (quick Rachel Riley moment) around a 6% drop.

Think my Bmi is 22, it's on a previous page, but never checked before, and hold it in the same esteem as max hr being 220 minus your age.

My weight when I checked it of 69kg, was bang in the middle of the green bit, my desired weight is still within the green area, all be it closer to the edge.

I've always been comparitively light I guess, and I am losing weight (averaging 500g per week) safely imho, no crash dieting, no skipping meals, and no shakes to replace meals etc, so I'm very comfortable with my methods, such as they are, cutting out the crap, and exercising enough :-)

Mostly looking forwards to reaping the rewards in the summer on the bike 8)

I know DB's secret: he buys lots of clothing with fluoro yellow or snot green colouring. It would put you off food.

Bloody Castelli: I bought an all singing all dancing SS jersey in an M and broke the stitching on my upper arms.

    Oi!

I'm eating like the proverbial, as opposed to literal, horse at present - think all of the turbo-ing has kick started my metabolic rate (not sure if that is possible) but even on weeks when I have slipped and eaten things that might not be as good as they might be, I have stayed the same or lost a marginal amount.

Last week for example, I lost 0.2kg, but as we were away on the IOW at the weekend staying with family, there was dessert every night, and even 3 ales one evening, so I was fully expecting to have put on a bit, so was very pleasantly surprised to see a marginal loss.

At the beginning of the year, when my FTP was incorrect, and my workouts were not hard enough, that was not happening, and I increased weight in two separate weeks, but since the last FTP, it has been a downward trend - famous last words....
Today, as we are off work this week, we went out for lunch at a cycling cafe, though we did not cycle , and shared a piece of carrot cake, and a lush piece of chocolate cake, and tonight I had some lemon drizzle cake - but with natural yoghurt as opposed to cream, custard or ice cream.

Yep, did that - got the T shirt. Did silly miles up until the Caledonia etape. Stayed the same weight. During the 3 weeks after and trying to catch up on all the things I was supposed to have done instead of riding the bike, ate like a horse after the National every day and riding very little and lost 3 kg's

I went a while without posting, which included a holiday in Portugal (meat and carb diet) and a wedding (not mine, thus much alcohol and food). I had managed to get down below my start weight, but now I'm thinking of it going back to square 0.5...

You do realise that loosing 11.4kg's is loosing 15.3% of your body weight?
    What's your BMI?

First time I realised I really needed to lose weight I went from 11st 4lbs to 10st dead. That was 11.4% of my body weight, and I reckon I still had some fat I could have lost. 15% is going some though unless you're a whale to start with. And Whales don't take a small in Castelli...

You da winna winna chicken dinna. Sorry; Couscous, wild rice and Spinach.

Well, as a percentage of body weight... someone else can do the calculation.

Joking aside, that's good going keef with all your orthopaedic problems taken into consideration.

Orthopod chappy looked at my MRI scans and X-rays, poked, prodded and twisted my knee, and said he thought it best not to operate. Removing any more cartilage would leave it even less stable and accelerate the onset of osteoarthritis. So I'm on occasional ibuprofen and trying to avoid doing the kind of things I know upset it. Tripping over toolboxes in the garage for instance. He did say I can cycle as much as I like, so that's what I'm doing now, and it seems fine.

I did get to keep the MRI and X-ray pics as a little DVD box set. Incredible details in the MRI slices.

Don't tease us like that, you'll have to post the 'good one's'.

been stuck at 73.5kg for 2 weeks now :(

I fear it will only drop more if I cut calories at the weekend ... not sure I want to give up the weekend wine, cake, wine, crisps, lunches out and wine

The buggers at work have installed a tuck shop round in the kitchen. Supposed to be fund raising for the same hospice as the sponsored Reading - Paris bike ride I just missed out on. Makes fasting days an even bigger challenge!

Never done this before. I weighed myself prior to a hilly 2hr+ ride (32 miles in 2hrs 12mins). 68.8kg's. Then I weighed myself after; 68.3kg's. Is that a normal reduction over that time and distance? I wasn't hammering it. I took 500 mls energy drink and finished it. I wasn't over dressed and I didn't sweat that much.
