I've noticed the law of diminishing returns applies when looking for calorie deficits.
I ran 10 miles last week and burned 1,600 kCals. Ran the same route today, but 3 mins faster, burned 1,550 kCals. Average heart rate slower and, of course, I'm a pound lighter this week.
I'm hoping to build up to half marathon length by June/July. Another Strava challenge to motivate me.0 -

And it's taking you 6 months to work up to 13.1?
MTFU, you can already do a half marathon if you can do 10

Probably can do, it's a matter of available time really. And making running 13.1 miles my main goal in life! As the light increases I'll extend the runs. But I haven't done much cycling recently, so want to make that a priority.
Also I'd prefer to keep my goals modest as life has a habit of intervening in whatever plans I make - for example three years ago I signed up for RLS then suddenly got struck with dizzy spells which kept me off the bike for a year (which led to the weight gain I'm now trying to lose).0 -

That's good progress. I'm going to weigh in Sunday after two weeks of the 18/6 IF diet. Then I've got a week in a hotel for work, and that routine will go out of the window for five days.
At least the hotel has a pool and gym, so should be time for exercise.0 -

Should be 16/8, but it's adapted to 18/6 plus I carry on drinking tea during the day (well from breakfast to 9:00pm ish). I eat from 12:00 - 6:00pm or 1:00 - 7:00pm. it seems to be working and is manageable. I don't think giving up tea for most of the day would work more than a few days!0

Thankfully the calorie supply at work seems to have dried up as most of my colleagues are now trying to lose weight (and some of them have a lot more to lose than me!) Danger still lurks in the cupboards at home though. Found out where my wife has hidden the last of the Quality Street and the contents of a selection box! And there's still M&S cocoa dusted Belgian truffles, and a load of Lindt tree decorations that never got near the tree because they clashed with this year's colour scheme...
This is why I find 5:2 so good; if I can just stick to 600 cals on Monday and Thursday, I can hoover up Xmas leftovers on the other 5 days and still lose weight!0 -
The hotel didn't provide biscuits for our evening session last night - they provided Mars Bars and Double Deckers. Managed one of each, and took one of each away for supper.
