Not making any headway despite exercising 12 hours a week. This is a concern. Time for drastic measures.

gained 4lbs since crashing last friday and then spending the weekend eating like it was the end of the world, dropped 2lb again and back on a reasonable diet with no booze mid week, god its dull :(

managed an hour on the turbo today with a fairly good pace, if i can keep that up all week i might be able to hold off the love handles until i'm ready for the road again.

something you need to do is weigh yourself every day but ignore it.

but what you need to do is only take notice of it on a set day every week. make that your weigh in day. this allows for the kind of fluctuations that you have above. i like wednesdays or thursdays as my weigh in day.

weigh everyday and every evening gives me an idea if i'm on track, its amazing how much weight fluctuates during the day. Anyway i'm back

I try to avoid weighing myself regularly now; it only ends up winding me up. After a week of this pretty hardcore diet I was told by the scales that I'd only lost about a kilo. This despite feeling a lot lighter and my clothes fitting me better. The next day I tried again and it suggested I'd lost 3kgs since the diet began.

I'll do a weigh-in on Friday and will update my stats.

  • People of this thread - especially those who think they have a mountain to climb (or lose) - I bring a tale of epic weight loss & cycling.

In June 2013, I weighed in at 128kg - I decided to get off my bahookie and do something about it. Net result of a bit of self-control (especially around bakeries) and a big uptick in movement (walking & cycling) is that by June 2014 I was down to 89kg. Sure I've put some back on since then (I'm pootling around 93-95kg now) but I've maintained the activity levels through the winter.

Yes, there were some setbacks along the way (notably Christmas & New Year) but they were short-lived and just gave more impetus to getting the job done.

I have zero will-power (according to my dearest other half, and she's a woman so automagically correct at all times) - so if I can do it, so can you. Eat less, move more.

  • Maybe just one more week on the hardcore diet then light and healthy with plenty of exercise. I'm not going to hit my target by the en of January, but I wasn't expecting to. I'm happy at 83kg, but it would be good to get a little lower. I haven't seen the 70s in about 15 years.

    Hope everyone's having success.

Been stuck around 105kg for the last 6-8 months, and hasn't really affected riding but time to shed it for summer TT's and racing.

Staying at home full time would actually save me more than £20k a year I worked it out.

I could also spend that £20k on a personal trainer and cosmetic surgery, well some of it, that or a stair lift and reinforced bed.

Meanwhile staying at home and only doing 1 hour of turbo a day is making weight loss practically impossible, now its about keeping the weight off until i can get out on the roads again.

My desk drawer of crisps and Maltesers suggests I'm not taking this very seriously. If I eat them they no longer remind me how bad I am at this and it removes temptation.

  • I'm amazed any of you are able to lose much weight through exercise alone.

Anyone else discovering that they no longer particularly get hungry? It's a bit disconcerting. I don't really crave nice food or booze, either. I may have lost my love of life.

    Weigh in tomorrow.

i actually am on an incredibly strict diet.

im not worried about not losing any weight this week as im exactly where i should be in my plan. i actually lost too much too soon in relation to what i was happy to do.

my eating has also struggled this week and ive not been eating enough which doesnt help with the weight loss.

too much too soon and it will come back or you'll struggle like hell to keep it like that, besides winter is tough to get out there and really knock out 6+ worthwhile hours on the bike as you would do in the summer.

Commuting or turbo, sensible eating 5 days a week and relaxed but not stupid at the weekends, also i find that anything less than 150 miles a week and i'll gain weight.
