I just cannot seem to shift the last 1.5kg or so :(

Just under 77 and not a lot of body fat up top, but it seems reluctant to want to come from my inner thighs and behind where there is still a small layer of flab!! My body is weird, I'm on 28" jeans ffs!

28"? I got down to 32" waist, but most trousers that size I'm bursting the thighs on. I know skinny jeans are still "in", but the painted on look is a tad too much at my age I think.

I'm similar in terms of losing the last few lbs, been hovering around 81kg for a few weeks now having started the year around 84kg. My ideal balance between racing weight and looking healthy off the bike (my wife starts to accuse me of looking gaunt) is 80kg so I'm pretty much there. If I was 100% focused on racing I'd probably aim to drop another 2 or 3 kg below that though, which I imagine would involve some serious sacrifice...

Yes I buy jeans that are slightly stretchy denim material as no chance of them going over legs otherwise, I have short and stocky legs, quite irritating. re gaunt, cheekbones are IN, so not fussed.

Ah yes, jeggings (jeans/leggings), I believe they are called. My daughters have some. If you have any trouble finding them, just ask. I'm sure they will let me know where to get them.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

i also suffer from short and chubby legs okgo. its horrible.

i tried on some 32inch jeans a few weeks ago and they were baggy... ive lost another 3 kg since then.

Yeh, its odd, I mean I don't have chub anywhere below the short line, and veins clearly visible going down my thighs, but then above shortline it changes to be a bit more flabby.

nope, just an incredibly tight diet controlled by a fat loss coach and a specific gym session 3 times a week on top of my normal riding.

up until the last week ive been eating carbs every day, but now we're trying to lose the last few bits and pieces and drop a few kg in a shorter space so we've dropped the carbs and im starting to suffer.

keeps power up whilst weight drops off. replace fat with muscle basically.

i think youll find that most riders at the top of the game have some kind of gym routine in their locker.

    lol - I predict a RIOT!

Muscle doesn't = power on the bike (been done to death on here) for any useful duration to your average road cyclist.

The reason pro's are in the gym is likely because : they have the time, and they spend 30 hours a week on a bike, so having a stable core is a must and what else are they going to do after they have trained? This doesn't matter quite so much for your 5 hour a week rider, though its obviously not a bad use of time if you have it, I do a lot of core stuff (at home, you don't need a gym for it) and I think it is helping me. However if you're talking about weights etc, then almost certainly they will not be making you a better rider, possibly even a worse rider as you carry the DOMS for the following days which will hinder your training.

That is just my thinking on it, and why I have not felt the need to go to a gym for the last two years.

but im not an average road cyclist.

im a below average time triallist. ;)

anyway, i do the gym work in my lunch hours and the leg sessions do give mes DOMS for one day or so.

Power testing has shown an increase in power to weight ratio so its obviously working FOR ME which is the key phrase here.

FOR ME the whole point was to get my weight down. Weight training is without a doubt the best way to burn fat off your body, there is absolutely no debate on this point.

Just out the other end of the "7 lbs in 7 days juice diet." It was a pretty miserable experience, all things considered, but I lost 8.8 lbs (4 kgs). It doesn't quite get me to my ideal 83 kgs, but I'm at 83.8 kgs, a figure I haven't seen in some time. Can't wait to see how it translates to the bike! :)
