Need to replace the 50t chainring on my Shim 105 equipped Equilibrium 20, a quick google shows this as the cheapest shipped:

    http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/a3623/ ... =GBP&cn=gb

Is this the one I want (i.e. is it compatible or should I be changing to something else?!?)

Also have snapped a spoke on my rear wheel :'(

What year is the EQ20? Mine from Sept 2011 has a 5700 group set. The one in the link is for a 5600. No idea if that'll make any difference.

Good question, I think it's 2011 but wouldn't put my mortgage on it. Is it likely the 5600 chainring is incompatible?

I think this is what I need, from memory it says 50F on the chainring but have texted the missus to confirm!

Thinking about buying frame and forks for winter bike , does anyone know if the seat stays are made from 725 or just plain steel.

Plain steel, only the main tubes are 725

does anyone know the standard chain length on a 2010 equilibrium running a 11-25 rear cassette thanks.

Also is the new equilibrium 853 any good as a frameset, rather is it going to be much better than the 725 as I think I need a bigger frame of a 58 size flavour.

    thanks

I don't think it will be noticeably any better. It might be a touch lighter. Why do you think you need a bigger size?

I cant get comfortable on mine. I have a 28 degree 110mm stem and still feel cramped.
I have around 25cm of seat post showing and pictures of me on it, I look cramped.

How tall are you? Why are you using a 28 degree stem?

I would expect them to be some variety of chromoly, but not heat treated like 725, probably 525 or 520

5 11.5 or thereabouts, with an inside leg of around 89cm (thats the pubic bone measurement as opposed to trouser size).

Even with the stem my bar drop is around 6cm and am the wrong side of middle aged with low flexibility. With the standard stem the bars were about 8-9cm lower than the seat.

I must confess the geo of the equilibrium just may not suit me, but the 853 fork should allow for a fair amount of spacers

Sounds strange, are you sure your saddle height and set back are right?

    I'm 6'2" with a 90cm inside leg and I use a 58 frame with a 130mm -6 degree stem with no spacers under it.

Summat doesnt sound quite right with yours

I will measure again, but the seat height from the bb is 77cm to the top of the seat, and the seat back is about 6cm behind the bb. I have been experimenting with both and its where I get the least pain.

Had a brief encounter with a fellow equilibrium owner the other day, my first time in a year of ownership, found this thread so posted up.

Pretty much standard apart from the setup for commuting duties which it is solely used for, 2012 56cm Equilibrium 2.

Currently has a very short 85cm stem on it as im suffering with hamstring knee issues, helps to sit me up more.

I commute between Caterham Surrey to Gillette Corner Hounslow, passing through Sutton, Kingston and Twickenham. 46mile round trip two or three times a week, say hello if you see me.

I've done all 5 days on my 33 mile (short route) 40 mile (extended back through the park route), however recently it 2 to 3 days a week max... Need to ramp that up a lot in next few weeks ready for ride100... Still 46 round trip 3 days a week, hat.

How do you ramp up, as I am struggling with anything close to that. I would love to do 4 days a week, but the second day I can barely move especially on consecutive days.

what sort of weight is the Reynolds one, does it feel light or heavy, are Genesis releasing the 931 version of winter bike, I currently have a Reynolds 631 and don't want to replace with something heavier.

Been thinking of buying a Equilibrium 20 or 10 as my second bike (other bike is carbon road bike).

Much prefer the look/colour of the 10, but obviously the 20 has 105 rather than Tiagra. Although i don't mind Tiagra, it shifts absolutely fine.

Didn't the 10 sued to come with 105 a while back?

I think the 520 steel version may have, but once they moved to 725 they downgraded groupsets.

Does anyone know what bars mimic the stock genesis bars but with a flat handle section, I am trying to match the ramp and drop.

    thanks

Has anyone come up with good match for the cherry red paint? I picked up a big stonechip at the weekend which has prompted me to do something about the little ones I already have.

Sorry forgot to reply to this, yes that was me! Next time well stop and have a chat!

My commute is good but its to long, i wish it was a touch shorter so that i can manage 5 days in a row. 3 days is enough especially if i want to get any riding in on the weekend.

Love my quilibirum, its perfect for the job, wouldnt mind some lighter wheels though.
