That's 50 miles more than CWNT and 60 more than Yeehaa but with a quarter and a sixth respectively of their elevation.
I've just looked out the window.....

~^~
Whilst CWNT rides up lots of smaller elevations, I tend to go up big, singular climbs, which is not something you want to do every day!
Either way you do it, it's hard work!0 -
Exactly!
I know I'd struggle with that ride Yeehaa posted, my legs are not used to climbing (or descending) for such prolonged periods. This is what I'll be doing tomorrow which is fairly typical for a Sunday ride. A series of fairly short, but pretty steep climbs and descents. Altogether it's around the same total distance and elevation as Yeehaa, but the way it's composed makes for a completely different ride.
I think the type of riding we have over here makes it easier to ride all day without feeling like you were hit by a truck after.

Still hard work though!0 -

Harder than a turbobvious that's for sure
That was a joke0 -
It's fine, I actually went outside today0

Also, congratulations to El Cap for hitting 1,000km today!!!!
You've still got another 10 days to get another 610km to beat the 1,000 mile mark.0 -
El Cap hit a grand today? If the weather down there's anything like up here, then that deserves FAR more praise than normal!0

25-30mph winds. Going to be even worse tomorrow. The turbo-trainer is looking very attractive at the moment...0 -

Aiming for 900 miles this month. I may have a crack at the 1000 miles in a month in July.0 -
Now entering the last week in may. As such, the invites have now gone out for the June challenges.

Whose looking to compete for last place in June ?0

Thanks. Also I'd like to point out I've moved an electric fan in front of my turbo trainer now and rigged up my shower head above it, so when I do use it I can't be accused of not riding in outside conditions0

For the full south Wales effect, you'll need to lean your bike at 60 degrees to compensate for the side wind...0 -
I don't live in South Wales though. I live in a very sheltered area in Southern Spain, where it VERY rarely rains and I usually get a light breeze to keep me cool.
Haha.
Seriously though. I reckon I can get to 1250 before the end of the month. Reckon you're good for that Stu?0 -
Managed another 15k today. Was supposed to be going for 2 laps, but the GF's plans with her mates got cancelled so my free pass was canceled0

Oh, by the way, you Hwntws (South Wales folks), the gale force hurricanes are just kicking off again up here, so by taking the last few days as an estimate, they should reach you around morning commute time.
Enjoy :twisted:0 -
60mph gusts coming off the sea for my commute in today. Certainly made it interesting having to drop 3-4 gears on the 38t ring just to be able to keep forward momentum coming DOWN the hill. :shock:0
-
Yeah I went out yesterday and coming down the South Downs I was doing 280w on a 5% descent and just managing 12mph!
Was good when I got the tailwind though!0 -

Yeah, should be able to reach that.0 -

Should get t'interweb sorted at home on Friday, so I may just squeak in and nab the final podium spot I reckon! A distant 3rd I should add, clearly not up to the heroics of our leaders!
Reckon I'm in there with a chance for the 'quickest mile' too!0
