I'm not actually annoyed. Just making a point.
If you're not actually going out and riding, then why bother? And turbo trainer is not riding.
  • Just signed up to th "challenge"... watch out boyo's... i'm gunning for last place! Its mine!!!

Not used endomondo much, just had a proper browse round all the statistics and stuff and it seems really good.

Only problem is I have zero signal at some places in Cwmcarn so its going to screw my map and results up :(

feel free to add me as a friend so you can laugh at my feeble attempts to ride at a decent pace

    O'hai :D

Don't worry about lack of mobile signal, it's GPS signal you need. And it always seems to manage to keep track of me.
  • Hmm will check :)

I hope it keeps track, will be interesting!

I know it's not quite the same, but it had no trouble of keeping a fairly accurate track on me at Llandegla on Friday.

If I know I'm going somewhere with crappy mobile reception, I tend to switch it over so it's not automatically trying to upload the route to the site. That seems to help, although I'm not sure how or why.

I always stick my phone in offline or "airplane" mode when I'm riding. Saves battery, and I can;t actually hear the phone to take calls anyway.
Endomondo , when the phone is offline, seems to not use much battery at all.

Finally got my GPS's cable back from my daughter (it fits her camera) to upload this week's workouts. Retaken the lead, but not sure for how long though. If everything goes to plan, I should beat my initial target of 700 miles by Tuesday. I'm now looking towards the possibility of 900 miles and if everything works out, whether I can hit 930 (ish) which would be 1,500kms.

That's some pretty impressive mileage there El Cap. 100km in 1 ride yesterday.

Now all you need to do is try and find some hills and ride them on a proper bike :lol:

Technically, it was two rides - 15 in the morning on the way to work and 47 on the way home.

That would be HONC then, which was last month. 100km on the XTC, 3000ft of climbing... :D

And turbo trainer is not riding.

I feel slightly guilty because of my road miles!

I remember when one of my generally lazy and unfit mates joined the gym for 6 months, he'd come away telling me how he was averaging Xmph on the exercise bike. Then ask how fast I was going and he never quite seemed to believe that an exercise bike is very, very different from an actual one where you have to accelerate the weight of the bike and your body, fight the wind and deal with whatever's in your way on the trail.

Also, the fastest mile thing, me and El Cap both on 2.22!

Poor show from Nickouse....1 hour, 8 minutes, 58 seconds!

That's not bad going though considering where you both ride is flat as a Witchs tit.

Might try and improve on my time this weekend.

    3000ft? That's nothing, surely you mean 3000m?

You may be right. Can't see stats properly at work - endomondo only shows part of the screen's details for some bizare reason.

Shame we can't do an elevation challenge actually (yes, I've checked).

That said, I just looked at my stats for last month, total elevation gain was 5942m

Road miles are still miles, you're actually on a real bike, putting some miles in outside.

Actually, we can do a seperate elevation challenge on here (hoping I fare a little better in this one

All you need to do is check your stats on endomondo, you will see some graphs, just select elevation ascended (m) and set it to month.
Obviously, as this months challenge is still running, we'll use last months figures. Once you've got your elevation figure, quote my post below and slot your position in. :D

Crudcatcher Endomondo Elevation Challenge - APRIL

    1. Cat With No Tail - 5942m
    2. njee20 - 5469m (17496ft)
    3. El Cap - 8815ft (or 2 686.8m)

Who said it's flat in the South!? That's without doing too many hilly rides as well. Sky have said it'll be about 2 weeks until they sort our internet, so I'm well out of the May challenge :-(

Particularly annoying as I did some 5 minute reps yesterday, including one on a gradual descent, easily less than 1:56 for a mile!

    3284ft or 1000m, and that's over 324 miles.

That's 50 miles more than CWNT and 60 more than Yeehaa but with a quarter and a sixth respectively of their elevation.

I've just looked out the window.....

Hmm, if we're running one of these in June, I might be up for it. As I won't be going for the distance challenge next month, I can change my daily commute to include a bit of a climb on the way home.

It's a shame we can't get it to work on Endomondo like the other ones. But I'm happy enough to post one up on here at the end of each month like the one above if that's any good for people.
