I think it's getting overcomplicated now to be honest.
And things like my commute, are only partially on the road, what the hell do I class that on? (everything is done on the same bike)
If its done on a mountainbike and has offroad in it then surely its mountain biking not cycling ? When I go to my local trails I have to cycle a few road miles, but 90% of the ride will be off road.0 -
So, what happens when I put the Racing Ralphs on the Focus and take that off-road on the commute?
But yes, it could get a little bit complicated. I'll be counting commuting (not matter what bike) as cycle sport. Any other rides will be defined by the bike I ride.0 -
Well as I say, both challenges are open. There is no reason anyone has to enter both if they don't want to.
For Yeehaa and El Cap, it possibly makes more sense to stick with the old challenge. Wheras some people may only want to record MTB miles against other MTB miles. At least the option is there now.0 -
So, just to clarify, the "most miles" challenge has been amended to include all mileage, from every sport, even MTB mileage and the "most MTB miles" challenge will just include MTB rides?
Obviously, I'm not even remotely considering trying to win both challenges. At all. Ever. Thought never crossed my mind...0 -
I want to see you take the hat-trick with the speed challenge as well
You are correct sir. The "most miles" challenge now includes every category, even yoga! and the most MTB miles only includes MTB rides (which can of course include your commute if it's predominantly off-road).
And for those wondering what constitutes an off-road ride. Well, I just went out now, did 40km. 10-12km of which was on the road getting to and from the trails. It was along a flat, smooth, hardpack trail, but it was off the road. I'd have marked that down as a MTB ride.
I was about to say "use your common sense" and then I remembered where I'm posting this so I'll say this instead. You know if it's fair to call your ride a MTB ride0 -
Congrats Stu. I'm only gonna manage another 60-70km tomorrow so it's all yours.0

Ben: Fire road is off road and you know it! I wish I had fire road to ride on! I still can't believe how lucky* people like CWNT are where they've got miles and miles and miles of amazing, 'proper' riding outside their front door.
My rides normally consist of:
Out the front door
On road to the park [Flat]
Through the park [Flat]
On road for a mile and a half to the college [Slightly hilly]
Thorugh the college and the nature reserve/park it backs onto [Flat]
On road for ten minutes to that bit of footpath by the cemetery [Slightly hilly]
Along the bit of footpath by the cemetery (3 minutes) [Flat]
Cross the motorway bridge [the steepest my rides get is carrying my bike up the steps of the motorway bridge]
Up the side of the golf course [Flat]
Back on the road [Flat]
Down the bit of footpath that comes out by the motorway [Flat]
Back on the road to, and to the top of, the business park [Flat]
Off road, through the nature reserve [Flat]
On the road to retrace my route backwards [Flat]
Road, road, bloody road......and some of you wondered why I bought a road bike!
*I know it's not really luck, but where you 'choose' to live.0 -
Damn you CWNT, damn you right to somewhere not very nice! I thought I had you this month cos you said you weren't riding yesterday cos of the TT, but what did you bloody go and do?? Git!

Snuck in a cheeky one. Last night. Part of where I was riding was right next to the course, seperated by a hedgerow. Getting passed by a superbike doing 190mph is an experience.0 -

and if your endomondo tracker has been as sh!t as mine recently, you'd have been doing around 75mph yourself!0 -
Hehehe, It seems there was quite a few of us experiencing some wierd endomondo happenings at the middle of the month. But it seemed to sort itself out.0

I want to get up there on the MTB stats lol. Hoping that i'll be able to up my game a bit more soon too as I won't have to give the irish leprechaun a lift to work.0 -
Yep, new challenges go live at midnight (for all those insomniacs amongst you).
Remember, you no longer need to select your workouts as "Cycling, sport". You can now set them to MTB or whatever and they'll still count.
Good luck.0 -
