13th less likely than 20th for me.

I'll sort a route out then those that can only do 13th can have their own meet up?

WRT cafe stop and general direction it's a toss up between grindleford or somewhere near tissington at the moment.

I'll be there again - I enjoyed it last year despite the snow. I'd better get out and practice now!

There were 3 falls last year. One was on the top of Axe Edge though into the snow. Was that you Ax?

Ah yes, I remember the tumble within 10 mins of setting off on that narrow, icy, rutted up lane.
Don't remember any other falls though.
Are we doing the Crowdicote hairpins again? That was(n't) fun.

Have a look at this one peeps.

Heads out to Alderley then south first. Last climb before cafe is Crowdicote.

Still some tweaking to do or I'll possibly completely change it!

Good looking route. I will need the cafe stop! :D
  • I was the faller in the snow at the top of Axe Edge last year. Was a lovely ride - thanks to all for waiting at the top of the climbs.

Had my lunch in the cafe today - It's a thumbs up from me.
I'll not be having the breakfast and a pint if I'm on my bike though!

You going to let us know what they are? Crowdicote hairpins for the climb and Axe Edge down to Buxton for the descent maybe?

Crowdicote for the climb. (Although my favourite bit of riding is in a steep unnamed valley near Wincle that has a really tight steep narrow hairpin. It's beautiful down there!

Here's a street pic from google earth of it, you should have seen it yesterday when the sun was casting rays through the trees! I was going to try and include it in this ride. I may still do that! As usual, the photo doesn't do the gradient justice. There's trees, a stream, a millpond and a gorgeous converted mill all in one spot. It's really peaceful too!

The descent is the one from Hartington Middle Quarter to Earl Sterndale. Short but oh so very sweet! We did it on the last ride.

I'm back! Thanks Nap for doing the route. I can't recognize most of it from the map, but I'm sure I've ridden all the roads before.

So - come one, come all!

Maybe someone can invite Bhima again?
  • im going round his on sunday.

I don't remember much from last years ride after the Crowdicote climb - Just about finished me off! Hopefully I'll be better prepared this year.

Would love to join, but for two reasons:
    1) I've not done a great deal over the winter and am afraid you'll all beast me !
    2) I'll be on a beach in the Maldives on my honeymoon :D She wouldn't let me reschedule so I could make a company day at Newport Velodrome, so I doubt she'd let me reschedule for this :D

I hope the weather's good, I'll be thinking of you all from the beach, feet in the 28C sea, whilst drinking cocktails

Love to come along, but suspect it's going to be a big ask to being 100% - get a subacromial decompression on my shoulder tomorrow, so four weeks isn't going to be enough time - I've not entered the Cheshire Cat for that reason. I hope to be riding asap, but think putting any steep climbs through my shoulders will have to wait - especially as I only use 39 x 24.

Used to be old 'hunting' grounds when I was club riding - might just plan myself a route via Macc forest. Flash etc. when I'm better.

    .

You should definitely include it if you can. I love doing new routes I've not seen before.

Just to let peeps know I'm trying to sort an interesting route that includes the bit I like so much. It may involve retreading a lot of ground done on last year's spring fling after the cafe stop though...
