Hi,
Yes we fixed that, you need to download v2.1 from goldencheetah.stand2surf.net. Garmin changed the file format.

I'm having some problems with the Critical Power plot.
Thursday's ride was showing a 1s power output of 1500W. Unfortunately I top out just over 1000W, and anyway this wasn't a sprint session.
This morning's group ride gives me a 1s output of 20448W  It says this power was achieved on today's ride. I didn't even contest the cafe stop sprint - it is November after all.
The Ride Summary page doesn't show any daft max power figures, and there's no obvious anomalies in the Editor page.
Any suggestions?0 -

Can you send me the file and I'll take a look, it sounds like a bug. liversedge gmail com

Right then. I've avoided it for long enough, but I feel I have to investigate the Training and Racing view.
I currently have a Powertap Pro+ and a Garmin 800 so I use that during workouts. What would be the benefit to getting an ANT+ dongle and using the Training and Racing view during a workout? What would it show? I'm assuming power (obviously) from the powertap and possibly cadence, but I'm assuming I wouldn''t get HR as this comes from the Garmin and that isn't transmitting.
Secondly, I've tried to upload the Alpe D'Huez FIT file to view during a workout, but I keep getting prompted to configure my Quarq device. Is there any way to run GC's Training and Racing view without configuring a Quarq device?
I've looked on the wiki and elsewhere and I can't find the answers. If there's a good site with the answers, please point me to it.
Cheers in advance.0 -
Mark will probably be along soon to answer this better than I can, but anyway....
HR should work - it doesn't come from the Garmin, it comes from the HR strap via ANT+ same as the power/speed/cadence data from the PowerTap. Cadence didn't work last time I tried to use the realtime stuff, but maybe that was just a bug and it will now.
As for your second question - if you don't have an ANT+ dongle then I guess GC won't let you do anything.
In terms of usefulness - well you might find it nice having a a route to look at and some graphs showing your power, cadence, etc. throughout the workout, but I find myself not using it and just sticking with the Garmin.More problems but still living....0 -
GiantMike wrote:What would be the benefit to getting an ANT+ dongle and using the Training and Racing view during a workout?
That is a great question. If like me, you have a computrainer that can set resistance then lots of structured workouts are the main benefit.
If you're running an ANT+ device then you can workout to a prescribed workout and get feedback to guage your effort against the target and not have to worry about remembering the workout sections etc.
Other than that, its just a bit more fun to workout with videos and streetview .. and anything that makes riding the tubo more fun is worth a try.
But it is a great question, and some folks will undoubtably say not much - especially if they don't have a PM or Computrainer.--

Mark,
Have you tried Trainer Road. Is GC's training screen going to be anything like that?

Rich
Yes I have it installed on my Mac.
We have a workout plot in GC that is basically TrainerRoads only view. I.e show the workout profile and my collected data overlayed on it as I ride.
We have gone further in GC and added other metrics for display like NP, TSS etc, streetview, maps and video. We also support the Computrainer. We also support workout editing and common formats like .erg, .crs, .mrc and .pgmf.
I'm looking into Tacx Fortius support right now, since that would mean we cover the two mainstream computer controlled turbos. TrainerRoad is currently aimed at users guaging and controlling their effort since they do not support Computrainers/Fortius like devices yet.
I know that Nate and Reid at TrainerRoad are also looking at Computrainer support, Video and Internet Racing. So TrainerRoad may become something really cool.
One thing I do like about TrainerRoad is the nice look-and-feel, and the fact it can minimise into a really small view.--

Maybe I'll give GC training a go. Really like TrainerRoad as it is a very clean interface and easy to use (my preferred view is minimised watching video) . I have been playing with GC for a while but struggle a little with using it (set up, etc). Plan to get acquainted with my turbo this winter and need distractions/incentives.Rich0

I didn't get round to giving public feedback. It turned out to be due to time occassionally going backwards in my Garmin data file. (Presumably when I hit 88mph?) The problem had already been dealt with in GC and an upgrade to v2.1 fixed it.
Thank-you Mark.0 -
When I upload my rides, TRIMP is always showing as a number that does not seem to change. I have set my threshold HR wayyyy in the past (2008) and set the zones accordingly, but the number never changes depening on the TRIMP weighting.
Any ideas?

I'm using the latest mac version of V3 but have a recurring issue...
Every time I add an activity file it crashes GC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest build but the same issue. The activity does load as when I reopen GC its there.
Any suggestions?Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -

When does it crash? When refreshing metrics? If so, send me the metrics.log file. Would be useful to see a file that causes a problem too.

it crashes after clicking 'save' and before the 'finish' button comes up when adding an activity Does it every time so not sure what to try?
any ideas appreciated...thanksYour Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
I have an error message: "Remote Calendar not available, reverting to cached workouts"
Think I must have the Cal settings all wrong. Was hoping to get my efforts populated into my Google Calendar.Rich0 -
I'm pretty sure I've been reading this correctly, but would appreciate someone's confirmation.
Looking at the PM graph, my current (today's) TSB is roughly -18 and my ATL/CTL shows tomorrow's TSB will be roughly +2 with no ride being done today?
Thanks in advance.0 -
not sure about predictions for TSB tomorrow but I reckon your FTP is off as I doubt you could be maintaining a CTL close to 150 for that long without being severely overtrained. MOst people reckon a CTL of 100 is pretty severe...Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

I don't have a power meter yet, so that info is all done by HR and TRIMP, I agree tho it looks mighty strange.0
-
maybe you need to re-test some HR numbers and change your profile? I used HR in GC for a year and the Perf Manager worked really well and the numbers translated really well when I started to use a PM as well.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

Does anyone know if there's a way of manually entering a ride and then adding a TRIMP point value? I use GC to monitor all my training, which, as I'm a triathlete, involves running and swimming too. I'd like to be able to add a 1hr ride and assign a value, of say, 100 TRIMP points to represent a swim session. Anyone know if this is possible?0
-
How do you add Weight so that it is included in the Metrics Charts? [could have sworn I posted this already]
Also what is the difference between Performance Manager using TSS, BikeScore, TRIP & Daniels Pts? Charts look similar but with different numbers. As I do some training without power (i.e. Spin Classes) am I better using BikeScore?
Finally, how many days/weeks/sessions required before there is sufficient data for the chart to be valuable?
Thanks.Rich0 -
I've re-jigged my HR zones and TRIMP K in the 'lactate threshold history' section, yet GC is still churning out a TRIMP score for my rides that are too high.
Is there any reason for this? I've deleted all previous lactate threshold history and the from date is Jan '11.
Is the reason why I can't use bikescore and daniels points to plot my PMC because I don't use a powermeter?0 -
Another query. If I add a manual activity it give me a bikescore based upon time (but not HR). How is this calculated? Moreover, today I imported a file from a spin class (i.e. no power) and I get no bikescore, so no record in the performance manager. What's the best solution for getting a meaningful bikescore or equivalent?Rich0
-
For manual activity inputs I make up data from a similar activity for which I have data. For me a 1 hr spinning session is pretty much the same as a 1 hr interval session.0

You can add an activity manually with activity->manual activity entry.
You can manually override the TSS/Bikescore etc on the Metadata metrics tab.
There is a howto related to this here: http://bugs.goldencheetah.org/projects/ ... HR_monitor--

Mark, thanks. Added Bikescores for all my non power workouts (spin classes) based upon Joe Friel's guidance:
http://www.trainingbible.com/joesblog/2 ... g-tss.html
However, adding a manual Bikescore meant that I lost all other metrics, charts, etc for this activity (Av HR immediately, everything else after save/exit).Rich0 -

I don't understand -- what version are you using btw?
You haven't lost any manual workouts i hope?
Gulp.--

I am unable to get power to show up in Realtime view.
I have a Garmin USB1 ANT+ stick, Powertap and HRM. My Powertap and HRM pair up to GC (5 Feb version 3). When I set up the ANT+ device via Options>Tools I get the correct reading for power and HR with the correct device IDs.
I save this and go into Realtime view and I get correct live data for HR, cadence and speed, but I don't get any power data. I've checked the info on the Garmin 800 head unit and that is correct and shows power, but GC doesn't show it in the realtime display.
I've tried the different chart options but I can't get it to display power. Power is recorded when I look at the analysis tab.
Any tips? I'm sure it's really obvious but I'm just not getting it.0 -

This may be a daft question, but are you sure it's power that's missing and not cadence? The Realtime stuff doesn't show cadence for my PowerTap, but does show power.More problems but still living....0 -
Few quetions WRT v.3
1) How can I seem the performance manager. i.e. CTL etc..
2) How do I run workouts? Do I need to sync up an ANT+ stick first? Clicking play doesnt do anything
3) Does version 3 see the addition of Normalised Power and TSS?
Thanks0
