Regarding Cavendish, it's hard to see him leaving HTC.

    Sastre to GEOX.

That's surprised me. I thought he was committed to the CTT 'project'.

    Sastre to GEOX.

Cervelo really need some new big names if they want to be invited to Grand Tours in the future.

surprised at Sastre as I thought Cervelo was built around him and he was happy at the team. As stated they need a big GC rider to join them now.

Schumacher has returned too signing with Miche

Well he didn't exactly say he's sticking his jersey on eBay, but he's not happy about being team-mates with Ricco:

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/pineau- ... dian-races

There's a bit of history there, too, because when Ricco got booted out of the Tour in 2008, Pineau wrote a fairly scathing article on his blog. Dodgy translation here:

A bit gutted to hear that actually..............I thought Sastre was part of the furniture at Cervelo. Seems a little odd at his age too, jumping ship to a new team with big pressure/expectation etc. Then again, perhaps GEOX have offered a suitcase full of cash?!

Agree though - there certainly seems to be a big void in terms of a GC rider on the squad and if Cervelo are to get invites to the big stage races, they need to identify a replacement. And quick.

    You wear a small?

    If so, PM me...
  • That Sastre one has surprised me... maybe he likes shoes with an airy cushioned sole?

Also surprised by Sastre's move and yep Cervelo are indeed in need of a GT GC contendor now!! TBH (even though I am a fan of his) he is past his best as we can all see, so I hope Cervelo pull someone out of the bag that will do them proud.
Still, a good result for Geox for sure.

Why do Cervelo need a GT contender?

Their team is quality without one.

Sastre did nothing this Tour or Giro and they were still exciting, and that was without Haussler.

I'm surprised too at Sastre as he was actively pursued by CTT but in reality it seems to have been Haussler and Hushovd who have had the biggest success. Maybe he knows something we don't. No tie in with the Schlecks here is there (clutching at straws)? as they used to ride Cervelo

Sastre is getting on. An interesting character, yes but he's not exactly winning a lot now that he's left Bjarne Riis and his box of tricks.

McEwen possibly to Fly V (who apparently are lining up sponsors to the tune of 10m euro)

    Kluge from Milram to Skil

Kreuziger to Astana for 2 years

Menchov should be confirmed within ten days - I would guess Katusha now Kreuziger is confirmed for Astana

What surprised me even more about the Sastre move was that Cervelo never even made him an offer for next year, according to Vroomen (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/vroomen ... to-cervelo).

That would mean he clearly wasn't a good ROI according to management, or the Geox offer was so huge that CTT didn't even bother countering it.

I'm also of the opinion a GT leader is not a necessity. Had you asked QuickStep or Bouygues bosses that question in July I'm guessing they would've agreed. Those liberated salary funds will probably go to someone, though... but who?

Yet this was one of their best showings in the TdF with them having the KoM and MJ and Chavanel attacking to be most combatitive rider of the Tour.

So imagine what they can do with Ricco?

C'mon, we know Lefevre is always happy to take on riders who have a history of doping.
