    So...

Meet at Boscawen Car Park (where the tennis courts are) at 9.30 -plenty of spaces there.

Will ride to Malpas, sling the bikes on our shoulders, run (!) up ther 50 or so steps, up a shortish track, up the lane, into a massive field, bit of a downhill blat across that, then into a pretty technical DH section (rocks, mud, roots), into St Clement (very pretty!), along a flattish track by the river to Tresillian. There is a decent shop there if needed.

I'm then planning to turn back and plot the same route but if anyone wants to do the full 24 miles, I have a very good map (Rough Ride Guide) that I will bring along.

Full washing/tea/cake facilities at my house in Malpas Village if anyone fancies it on their return!

    Hope that's okay!

The technical downhill bit. How long is it? Thinking about bringing junior for her 1st offroad. I can always bail out if its too hard.

Kyle - Not too bad at all and very walkable if needed.
It's not steep, just quite rocky and slippery when wet.

Be cool to see you all1

Formulas do seem to win every current disk brake test so they must be pretty good!

Adrian - I'll bring the map along and do a quick explanation of the route - it's a great one but I'd say that unless you are all the quicker riders (which you are) then allow a fair chunk of the day for it.

I'd love to do the lot but got a busy Sunday ahead.

I'm plotting to go in today - Sunday was apparently quite good but we were cycling/swimming on Dartmoor!

Ought to get a surf in before you head off in May.

sounds like a plan definately. where do you normally surf? lots of sea mist at the mo which im hoping will clear up by this afternoon.

    Should be clearing now.

In conditions like today, I usually head for Porthtowan - love the power of the waves there. When it's over about head and a half high, I head for Godrevy/Gwithian. If it's pretty big and SWerly, I head for Porthmeor or Newquay Bays, then when it's gigantic, I scurry down to the South Cornwall beaches - couple of nice secret spots nearby.

Think I'll head in sometime this afternoon.

Sorry to bore the rest of the Cornwall riders!

  • mist has cleared and left a cracking day here!!!

    surfing needs no appologies!
i would love to get back into it again (bodyboard! sorry!), just need to sort out a wetsuit and a new leash, but then i would have to brave the locals at portreath hahahah!

Warm - surfed Fistral in the end (dog ban on PT so wife can't walk the dog there while I surf!). About head high and punchy. Bit crumbly and VERY foggy but fun! :D

Ross - Cool. Hope you can make it - should be relatively easy (apart from the step climbing!)

Postcode for the car park is: TR1 1SG (well that's the restaurant just opposite but yoiu can't miss the car park - right at the mini roundabout where there's a new development (on the left) and towards the tennis courts. Go too far and you end up in the river.

    Timmo - it is indeed.

Just been bought by new owners.

Trennick Mill - so very nearly correct spelling!

My shoes are still peat bog covered from the Sunday ride but at least they have finally dried - took three days!

    Knee healed up yet?

I'm having to have full on physio for the knee I bashed at Bissoe. Turns out I have a knee problem that I didn't realise I had! Cycling is fine, running is a big no no for a while

  • no, the knee is yet to heal properly! as is the scar on the back of my other leg from the chain wheel! scars and things like my knee take a lot longer to heal on me due to my immune system trying to beat the m.e.! but hey ho! should have some more tablets tomorow to boost my immune system back up so that will help to cure any scars i endure from sunday lol!

knee problems arbnt good! the wife's suffered since she was 18! had 5 ops on both knees now! last one was both at the same time! go in, scrape under the knee cap flush out etc! considered a bi lateral release on it but as the last time she had that done hadnt helped they didnt bother loL!

good pain killers!! work a treat lol! although she did suffer like mad from our ride to tehidy on the bank holiday!!

Just to confirm, the meeting is at Boscawen Car Park (where the tennis courts are) at 9.30am Sunday.

Is it an easy ride at gentle pace?

What time do you reckon it'll be finished?

Mark - if you do the "mini" route, I reckon about an hour and a bit.
If you want to do the whole route (I'll provide a map and directions) then you'll probably need 3-4 hours.

Although it's shortish, there's a challenging set of steps to climb with bikes, a good DH that becomes a technical climb on the way back! It's also very pretty so worth bringing a camera.

You have all the details right - Boscawen Park for 9.30am and tea, cakes and washing facilities at mine for the post "mini ride" people in Malpas Village (about a mile from Boscawen Park) if anyone fancies it!
