  • sounds like a good one then Shane!
i spent most of the afternoon sat on my 4rse in a cold carpark in tintagel touching in a scratch! know what i would prefer doing lol!

Tyres wise, i am really stumped as my tyres (trailblasters) are great in the summer and on light loose pack, but when its gloopy mud they are useless! the fire's looked good, but can get cinders for almost the same cost and then there are the Maxxis high rollers xc too! thought foldable as they are lighter but again, fire's, cinders and high rollers are all heavier than the trailblasters!
have been thinking about about a 2.1-2.3 up front and a 1.95 ish on the back, but trouble is finding the right ones! and then its the can i really be bothered lol! if there was only one choice it would be so simple!

Dazz, if you really want to remove thwe swirls then menz or 3M etc will do it, but if your not all that bothered about them (you need to make sure that your wash method is 100% defect free! which most arnt!!!) then ive got G3 or G10 to blast over it with which will remove an awful lot and will take a loty less time! 4-5 hours for the full lot rather than 7-8! if your doing sw motorshow then let em know and i can tart it up prior to for yoU!!! ;)

Timmo, have a look at this site for ideas, i find it great when i fancy knowing what's good, funny enough that site is the reason why i went for the marzocchi rear in the first place.

Was it the taxi that needed touching up, did someone ding it?
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

    Splendid ride yesterday!

Looks like I might be plotting the next one - we can either convene at/near my place (Malpas Village) or in Boscawen car park (a mile down the road). Will have full washing kit and tea/cakes for after the ride if needed.

Room for about 5/6 cars at mine (more on the road below - enough for loads of cars) and nice views of the river!

Thinking a route from Malpas, up a flight (50ish steps) of steps, towards St Clement. then Tresillian, to Philleigh, over the King Harry Ferry, then back round to here - about 60% road but proper country roads for almost all of that.

Hey guys of XC in Cornwall! We're in the early stages of an Exmoor trip so if you fancy getting involved then do! Not as long as your Dartmoor trip but possibly with two routes for different abilities/fitness levels? Not sure yet.
Love to get your input guys!

We could be up for a few little adventures if yesterday is anything to go by.

    Hi All,

This is the planned route for Sunday. Meeting place depends slightly in numbers - Boscawen Park if there are loads (say more than 5 car loads) or my place if not.

Here's a scanned map - it's quite a long one (longest so far) but if we keep a decentish pace up we should do it in about 2.5-3 hours.

There's a very nice pub halfway too.

    Edited - might be copyrighted!

Tried to flip the map but it won't let me!

Timmo and everyone - just thinking a little (a rare thing for me) and it might be a little OTT to do 24 miles - I have a shorter route and although it's not a loop, it has a great DH section and some rather nice scenery - it's basically Malpas/St Clement/Tresillian and back.

We can't really shorten the above route due to the river.

Is that okay with you all? It would be about 8 miles, with a flight of 50 or so steps to climb for any fitness freaks(!) and a pub in the middle if needed.

    Cheers,

    Matt

I was going to do your ride Lee.

The other ride this coming w/e is a beginner ride.

I was even training for it this week:
Tues - easy ride round Dunmere
Wed - road ride to Newquay & back (18-20 miles), to go to circuit training.
    Sun - 50k

Sorry you are not doing it.

Lhance - I thought 25 miles was a bit OTT for a gentle ride.
It would take all day - most (including me) haven't got all day to spare this weekend.

Just trying to think of all the other riders. Some might be able to blast out a 25 miler in no time but others would find it hard work.

Chill - you seem a little stressed out.

Timmo - after being out for 6 hours on Sunday, I think maybe I ought to keep it shortish.
Wife is very understanding but as she can no longer ride, I might be pushing it a bit if we do another all dayer!

Can always let everyone know the route (I have a good map with it marked) and if anyone fancies the whole lot, they should be fine - it's pretty straightforward.

LHance - Wasn't aware of the removal. Not sure if it's "my" ride - just got a route that wife and I have ridden and is pretty good fun.

  • no worries matey!
understandable about keeping it short due to the big ride last week,
for me its more the good humoured riding company than the distance!!

my problem is with FSR removing a post, saying he would be doing your ride, thus making me look bad for cancelling my ride that I organised at his request.

Well ive found out what's up with the car, siezed rear caliper, ive got some nearly new ones for the bargain price of £30 but no driving for me until then.

I'll just bike locally in the meantime, hopefully it'll mean just a few days of downtime.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Ooh tempting, i'll see what develops on the car front, all being good i'll have it sorted by then, if not that'll be great, means i get my biking fix. :)
