Would a Tour have gained a place for Roglic?

Probably, assuming other results stayed the same (I doubt he would have done the 2020 Vuelta had he won for example).

Vingegaard takes the final stage of Itzulia Basque Country with a long solo attack, absolutely nailing the GC down. Very dominant race from him

Goes to show how incredible Pogacar is, considering he beat Vingegaard with relative ease at Paris Nice.

Agree that Pog already has a Hall of Fame palmares and he's still eligible for young rider categories.

What's remarkable (with all the caveats applied) is that Merckx already had 3x MSR by the same age, as well as a Giro (but "only" 1 Tour)

Edit - ...and a World's, Roubaix, Flanders and Liege*

I don’t think anyone is arguing that Pog is better than Merckx. Yet.
Simply that he may be the best all rounder since.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • So what you're saying is "he's not the new Merckx, he's a very naughty boy" ;)

I'm.not comparing really tbh, just passing on something remarkable I heard about Merckx

I’m saying he is the closest in a very long time.
Time will tell his final standing.

I think you’re forgetting Edvald Boasson Hagen.

Merckx rode in a time when there were only really five countries in the sport. If it was the same today Enric Mas would be a three time Vuelta winner and Wilko Kelderman would have won the Tour and Giro (and second in the Vuelta)

Nice finish to the Giro di Sicilia today - Finn Fisher Black going to fast up the final climb for teammate Ulissi to stay with, so his team just let him hang off the front with 1.1km to go, and he kept on going to win by 8 seconds. About 800m to go he looked like he would rather they caught him. First pro win.

    Nice helicopter shots of Agrigento

Utterly selfish ride and couldn’t even finish it off. Reusser was left to drive the break to stay away from the chasing group having done the work to get them away. I suspect there’ll be words tonight. If you’re going to play the team leader card in that situation you have to win.

    It looked questionable

.. Rausser wasn't guaranteed the win either and persico had the better sprint but even so

Persico barely did a turn on the front and yet still the others towed her to the line. Do they not know that she has a pretty devastating sprint for a rider able to handle the climbs?
