I seen a couple of these listed locally , Worth buying a rim brake titanium bike instead of disc now ? Love the look of them0

Nothing wrong with rim brakes, and they won't be going away anytime soon. Braking performance with Swisstop BXP pads on aluminium rims is superb in all conditions and I run 30 mm tyres on this frame so 28 mm will fit easy . IMO rim brakes are just so much easier to set up and maintain with the bonus that there's no rubbing or squealing to contend with.gary_sparrow said:I seen a couple of these listed locally , Worth buying a rim brake titanium bike instead of disc now ? It's not my main bike, but I've done around 2k miles on mine and really rate it on ride and looks. The quality of the frame finishing and welds is amazing, particularly at the price as it seems to be based on the Reilly T325, which costs a whole lot more (same designer but made by Waltly). Definitely one of my best buys of last year.

Stupid question but I'm away from home for a week. Does anyone know what the BB is for the Spit frame. I know it is a BSA thingy but there seem to be lots of different names on the shopping sites.

Bsa should mean 68mm English threaded, which means the BB will fit in the frame. The selection of a 24mm or 30mm id bearing will depend on what crankset you have. Most likely it is a 24mm spindle if it's an old ish frameset, but you are going to need to look that up.

I have one and I'm running it with Shimano (24mm spindle) Planet X sell a lot of Ti bikes (or used to) and the majority of them came equipped with SRAM groupsets. So it's possible to run either.

Thanks all. I'm moving from a Campag crankset which is going back on the n carbon frame I didn't sell in the end and I'm fitting a 24mm crankset to the spit and need to get a new BB. I didn't remember whether the shell was 68 or 73mm. I'll probably stick a Ztto BB on it.

73mm is the mountain bike standard. Yours will be 68mm.

There are only about 174 bottom bracket standards, what's wrong with you?
