Again German goal - wingback overlap (Kimmich) overloads the opposition left back and gives the wingback enough time to cross.

This is the kind of stuff England can do especially against teams like Scotland Czechoslovakia

Gets harder the deeper the defence. England don't switch play quickly, because they don't have any good passers (in the starting 11). Takes them 2 or 3 passes, rather than 1. By the time the ball gets there there's nowhere to overlap to.

You might be right. I’d like to see them try though - even just to open up a bit more space in the middle.

I should caveat I watch no club football and I am overly influenced by the football manager algorithms which in FM20 make strong wing back play massively overpowered.

It does mean however I have a weirdly good steer on specific attributes of players and I know every single under 19 player really well (wonderkids innit)

a very spozzy 1-0 and nil - nil.

not exactly taking johnny foreigner apart are they?

    good, not great.

The players man for man are better than Italy has - the team clearly are not better than Italy.

i've had to quote this for posterity.

Why would a non English manager of a Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham or Liverpool play English players when they have the money to buy the best Italians if they wanted to?

And if they played English players who weren't up to the standard of the very best how would they reach the Champions League final with that handicap ?

I mean even AC Milan play an English defender - not one of the best though he didn't make the England squad.
because the italians don't want to play in England as they are happy earning the same money playing in a blimmin' good league living in a far, far nicer country?
Begs the question why you choose to live in this one really!!

i don't most of the time luckily. otherwise just for work.
But in your last post you stated the money was the same in Italy, so if you can earn the same money in Italy why work here?
because i'm not a professional footballer?

    Portugal defending really naively.

Really narrow and they’re getting spanked on both sides.

Germany also not missing their chances

I've not watched much of this kickmoneyballfest thing going on the now. And Spain v Poland ain't that interesting.

However, is it tv angles, my dodgy vision, or is Micah Richards of the half time bantz team a bit of a fat boi now? He's looking like Hagrid vs Harry Potter and his pals.

Human reaction time is longer than the difference between frames of a video recording. The time difference between what happened and the Spanish player treading on the Polish player was less still.

I am confused. Treading on the foot is a foul, especially if the ball has already gone regardless of how fast or slow it is.

That's a very absolute way of looking at it. I would say it's no different to any other accidental collision.

In the Prem it would be a penalty - personally I've got a bit of sympathy with the view it was accidental, not particularly reckless and didn't affect the game so it should be let go.

England didn't get a very similar one on (I think) Sterling.

It's the FA cup syndrome. Top teams trying to avoid fatigue, injury and bookings. Plucky underdogs with nothing to lose,.flinging body and soul at every ball.

Maybe im missing something in the rules what does it being “accidental” have to do with anything?

Accidentally tripping someone is a foul.
