Bleating hell, that's a blow for the GOAT status.

Means he can only possibly win one per year assuming a fit Nadal.
    Muppet.

Yeah, he's kind of shot himself in the foot if that's that way it continues.

Perhaps doesn't mean a great deal but Raducanu comprehensively defeats Serena Williams 6-4, 6-0 last night.

Raducanu is coming back into a bit of form leading up to the US Open. I doubt Williams will win many more games on her farewell tour.

Murray playing Norrie later. Would expect Norrie to win but Murray will be fired up against a British number 1.

The US Open certainly seem to suit her, early days though.

Novak Djokovic says he will be unable to travel to New York for the US Open, which begins on Monday.

Serb Djokovic had hoped to compete, but wrote on Twitter on Thursday: "Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open."

The 35-year-old won his 21st major title with victory at Wimbledon in July, leaving him one behind Rafael Nadal's all-time men's record, but will miss out on another chance to add to his tally.

"I'll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again," Djokovic added.

Confirmed, he won't be playing (can't compete) due to his stance on the Covid vaccinations.

  • Just watched murray play - Fed and Nadal about to play at the Laver Cup.

Studio sound not working, but courtside seems okay.
  • Ball just went through the net in the corner

I’ll miss Fed. Pure class on and off the court.

Nope. Nadal the current goat. Djokovic was always the most bendy/flexible and least likely to break. Even if he’s banned for two slams a year it’s possible he could regain goat status.

The hip resurfacing surgery involves attaching a metal cap to the ball in the hip after the ball has been smoothed down. Once that’s done, a metal strip is put in the pelvic socket to set it into place.

Hip resurfacing surgery is thought to be a good option if a person doesn’t want a full hip replacement.

The main benefits are the ball put into the hip is large in size, providing good stability. The other major advantage is that the femur in the bone remains in-tact. This is particularly good if further surgery is required in the future.

    Annnnnd he's had this done.

10 hours plus on court already, 35 years old with a metal hip. Steady opponent in round 3. Tough ask but you can’t write him off, helluva competitor.

Yep, incredible. He must still enjoy playing/competing to come back after the hip operation.

He’s one of those people who has to win at everything, even silly games with his friends. Probably an annoying character trait for those close to him but ideal for his profession.

He has the 24th seed up next.

Two massively long matches to recover from back to back - that must really build up the fatigue, what was it, 11 hours on court, and a 4am finish to top things off.

Love to see him progress further, but that would be a pretty sizable challenge at any age, irrespective of physical condition - though fitness wise he didn't appear to be suffering.

    1 set all!
Tough match, playing some excellent tennis, though Murray does look fatigued.

I can't see him taking the match, but I hope to be proved wrong.

He looks SO tired inbetween each point, unless that is him being super smart and conserving energy to the max.

He seems keen to get value for money for his trip to Oz. Into a 5th set again.

No, BBC sport app had the scores on sets 3 and 4 as 3-6 6-4 so thought he’d taken the 4th but now reversed and show him as being knocked out.
