Gutted, particularly in view of the past needle between him and Kyrgios. That semi could have been a classic.

    Easiest £500k Kyrgios will earn.

Makes you think if he knew he was unlikely to be able to play he should maybe have withdrawn to allow Fritz through.

Used to be the done thing at lower level sport if unavailable for the next round for whatever reason but not at this level.

Anyway, he didn’t know the extent of his injury while he was playing.

I think a lot of players would have retired from the game, but he is such a competitor, and he wouldn't have known how serious it was without further investigation.

If he had retired, and then found it wasn't serious, and he recovered to a point where he was competitive, he would have kicked himself to have thrown away the opportunity, as at his age, and with his recurring injuries, imho his grand slam opportunities now have to be well into single figures.

Looking good so far, but a long way to go potentially.

Djok looking strangely ineffective/off colour, can't put my finger on it.

I suspect he will work his way into the match, and come back like he did in the last match.

Djok isn't going to let him get away with making that many errors for long.

Norrie has a lot of good attributes.
    He needs to add consistency.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Looks like they have only played once before in 21, that was a 6-1, 6-2 win on a hard court for Djok.

I wonder if the 1st set was him getting used to how Norrie plays, and now he has the measure.

Djoks game has gone up several notches, Norrie is now making more mistakes, not sure if the two are linked, but probably.

Looking like djok will take this 3 sets to 1.

    I hope to be wrong.

Not sure I can remember seeing the baselines looking that rogered in many years.

Edit: djok bossing the rallies now

I don’t like his forehand, too many moving parts to be consistent under pressure. Backhand Looks a bit awkward too. Both not as compact as I’d like. If Norrie ever bothered to check bike forums for coaching advice he might have a decent run at Wimbledon 😕😂

Has NK ever played a slam final before, I assume not?

I've still never properly watched him play, so still don't understand what he does, or why.

Does he serve underarm every match, or is it just when he gets annoyed or something, or is it just gamesmanship?

I'll be intrigued to see how he plays in the final against djok.

I wonder if he really thinks he can win, or whether he'll just want to try and cause some controversy.

Like I say, by chance I've never really watched a proper match with him playing, so just going off 2nd hand information.

Having said all that, he has less than nothing to lose, and no one will expect him to win.

If Djok isn't the full package on Sunday, as I don't believe he is today, I'd say he has a decent shout.

Don’t think Kyrgios has been past QF in a Slam before. But he definitely has a chance here, provided his serve holds up.

The underarm serve thing is a smart tactic. He regularly smacks in 215 km/h first and occasionally 190+ second serves, so opponents often move waaaaaay back in the court to receive. The little dink underarm is a reminder that can be a bad idea.

I don’t especially like watching NK play - his style is a long way from pretty, but it works.

    Nah, you're alright.

Seven Wimbledon's for Djokovic and now one slam behind Nadal. You'd have to conclude in the future he will end up being the GOAT.

Not that cut and dry though in my opinion - evidently he is the most injury free of the three, but I gather it's entirely possible he won't be able to compete at either the US or Aus open, and then we come back to Nadal's back yard, the French, and Nadal may well be fit enough by then to compete, and nothing to say Nadal might not pick off one of the next two grand slams, before then to take it back out to 2.

Come pre wimbledon next year, potentially Nadal will be 3 clear.

For context, Nadal is 36 and Djokovic is 35 years old. Federer is the big four zero.

Yeah, it would be good to see them all on the court next year. I guess they could all possibly play at the US Open.

Get this, Federer is supposed to be worth around half a billion dollars!
