Fabio Jakobson involved in a crash on the run in.
Didn’t look hurt"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Watched this on the catch up, first thing I hear is Kirby wittering on about roundabouts. Ho hum, plus ça change.1
-
I skipped through most of it and still heard him going on about roundabouts twice!0
-
Just remember it overlaps with the giro, so no pain no gain.1

Oh God, Magnus Backstedt has caught the dreaded Lennie.
Can somebody explain what a "dialed in finish" means, or peaky terrain?
Another beautiful stage slaughtered by his poisonous prose."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Mature ride by Ethan Hayter there. Stayed hidden until it mattered then used his team-mates to perfection to secure the win.
Not bad for a trackie.1 -
Tactically very good by Ineos there to set Hayter up for the win and take 3 of the first 6 places on the stage. Hayter himself looked in complete control, stayed towards the back of the leading group until it mattered, moved up easily when he wanted to and led out at three quarters pace while the WD40 rider was already all in before taking the sprint comfortably.0
-
I assume Costa retired, he showed no sign of being keen to get back on his bike after his crash.0
-
The interesting thing about Hayter was how much he was on the radio - and transmitting, not receiving. Felt like a mature ride in more ways than one there.0
-
Yep, I initially thought he was checking on their gap to see how much they could mess about but it was noticeable that Henao and Sosa were picking the pace up every time he did it.
With all the current crop of young talent Hayter has been below the radar but is another full of potential and with all-round ability.1 -
Kirby or Hatch... it's like choosing the rack or the furnace.
Fair play to Pidcock. That's 3 wins in 3 disciplines. Incredible. Just hope he doesn't fizzle out within 5 years or so.
Same with Pogacar. Makes you wonder if it is sustainable.
Anyhoo, who cares about the sh*t small stuff with the Giro about to off?
Froome - retire mate, please. There's no GT in him, he's even struggling as a domestique. The fact that we're asking the question of whether he should ride the tour or not/will be selected is tellingseanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Olive oil wittering made an unwelcome re-appearance today as well.orraloon said:Watched this on the catch up, first thing I hear is Kirby wittering on about roundabouts. Ho hum, plus ça change.
Also noticed on Stage 2 Magnus talking about his descending ability, and about to continue when kirby appeared to cut him off and talk straight over him.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Kirby giving us a history of European roundabouts ffs."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.1

Apparently they've only been using them for a few years. Ithink he's confusing Europe with the US.blazing_saddles said:Kirby giving us a history of European roundabouts ffs.

I've come to the conclusion he reads this forum to see what annoys people most and then does that at every opportunity.
His 'impression' of an Ackerman interview was toe curling.1 -
Bennett takes the win at the canter so we won't get to see in Carlton's impression of a post-win Ackerman interview was accurate.0
-
There was a bit of a crash in the final few kms due to one of those dangerous new fangled roundabouts with several riders looking the worse for wear and unlikely to finish but nothing particularly serious looking.0
-
I was going to ask if anyone was badly hurt in that crash just before the finish0
-
Tiago Antunes was DNF. He didn't look good lying in the road, well after the race had moved on.vincesummerskRoxcBTr said:I was going to ask if anyone was badly hurt in that crash just before the finish

Was he the one the doctors were struggling to release from his pedals?blazing_saddles said:

Commentary free on ES at the moment, it's a blessing!
Just as well as there was a bit of a heart in mouth moment with a balmy parked team car on the outside of a bend that I thought the UAE rider was going to hit
Spoke too soon - CK has arrived and is wittering on about the dangerous roundabouts yesterday.0 -
Slightly more challenging TT course here than at the Giro.0
-
Hayter 0.6" down at first time check but then crashes heavily on a bend and looks uncomfortable0
-
Arms cut and finding it hard to stay on the aero bars.
Bump on the hip might cause him problems tomorrow too. May have lost himself the race there0 -
Poor ride by Sosa0
