    Thyon 2000. Ridiculous name

The place name, and a legal right to use its land, has existed since the 13th century, albeit then spelt Tyons.
Back then, it was only inhabited 3-4 months per year, for summer pasture.

As with Courchevel 1300, 1550, 1600 & 1850, though they have reverted back to village names.
    Or Isola 2000.

It's not uncommon with ski resorts that weren't built around traditional mountain villages.

Thyon 2000. Ridiculous name, ridiculous climb.

Sounds like an electrical appliance (or a robot sent back from the future to kill the mother of an unborn child).

Same commentary duo as for LBL.
Although Hatch’s opening comments about the high quality of the startlist.....

It's a similar quality to an Ineos Zwift ride.

    Ride of the century?

( I have a theory he's either been told or is trying to gee up the commentary a bit more, in a nod to the eurosport overlords who obviously love kirby)

Lopez in 9th so far, only 7 seconds down seems a stonking ride for him.

Dennis makes mincemeat of the leading time

Seeing the climb at the end, it's a perfect course for Dennis. On top form, Thomas too.

You can hear the whoosh-whoosh-whoosh sound of the disc wheels without the crowds... Minor benefit

Surprised Ganna was already down at the first checkpoint - thought he'd lose time up the hill.

    Herrada faster than Ganna though...

    It's sad to see.

Unrelated news - Froome is outside the top 100.

Has a problem with things called hills.

Ineos take the top 3 and Ganna isn't one of them. So much for my PTP!

Sad that Romandie is considered a small race too btw. Isn't it the 5th biggest stage race of the year? The Tour of the Basque Country gets its own thread...(I realise I could start one...)

Well we used to have someone who produced spolier threads for most races but was criticised for plagirism at the end of last season so understandably is less inclined to do them now.

Yes and a reminder that the Giro is only 10 days away.
Presumably the other person in question will be on hand to fill the void.

Checking the results and it’s sad to see that Chris Froome only beat 10 riders today. (130th out of 140)

This isn't a big race this year cos of the underwhelming start list
