I'm just relaying my experience so there's no need to jump on your little soapbox. I know it pains you to think that some things might not be that bad in the UK, I guess its something you need to get over.

Managed to pick up some LFT tests on the way back, for anyone in the Kingston area you can pick them up in the market square.
The last page of this thread certainly illustrates the point nicely that there are several people on here that know what they are talking about, and some others.

We ordered some kits on the NHS website last week and got them delivered 3 days later. That was 2 separate orders, one for me and one for junior so there doesn't seem to be a shortage.
there certainly has been either a shortage or a distribution problem or both

we tried 10-15 times over the last week or so, the website always said none available, over the same period there've been consistent "no tests in stock" signs in a couple of pharmacies i go past, plenty of news reports of the same

today they are available, presumably they restocked and/or demand no longer exceeds distribution capacity
All I can say is that our orders were both fulfilled as normal and in line with the 3 working working day delivery timescale. No idea why you had problems but could be timing?
It's been pretty widely reported that there have been intermittent issues with availability over the last few weeks, so not really a surprise.
    Not now it would appear.
    yes, now
    Not to me it doesn't.

See what happen if you order now on the NHS.
    Friday - missus ordered some
    Saturday - I couldn't get in
    Sunday - couldn't get in
Monday - couldn't be bothered as going nowhere
Sounds like this forum has a quiote a few unlucky people on it.

That's settled that then - it's down to luck whether you go on there when there are or aren't any available. I think that's what it seems like, there's intermittent unavailability but it's better than it was.

I couldn't get any a couple of weeks back but haven't tried again because don't need any more just now.

I had tried on and off since Christmas as was all out and feel like it's good practice before doing any socialising with older members of family.

Didn't have any luck until 4th Jan.

There's clearly been a bit of a shortage when compared with the easy availability earlier in the winter, but I don't think anyone thinks it's particularly unreasonable, do they?

If there's a shortage coming, telling everyone to test all the time seems shortsighted.

I also don't usually mention it in the context of not having a chip on my shoulder about how well others are doing.

I don't believe in luck so would explain it by the fact that there are shortages but as I have Covid I have no need for LFTs so only tried a couple of times. By the end of the week I will be more bothered and will try repeatedly at different times of the day and night at which point I suspect that my "luck" will change

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I don't think we're going to get a massive bump from schools going back. If that is the case (and so far there has been virtually nothing at my school, despite a school-wide test on Tuesday), this looks like very promising news.

Meanwhile, France is still on the up, and about 50% more cases than the UK. Are you listening, Macron?

If the above is how you react when someone mentions that they got a free lateral flow test kit from the NHS the first time of ordering, I'd love to see how you react when someone does some real 'alright jacking' ;)

Think he touched a nerve there.
  • Definitely have been shortages - was successful today, but unsuccessful for previous 5 days. Based on past orders, once you get an order confirmation the delivery does seem very reliable though.

If you’ve been lucky ordering for the first time then the service does seem reliable and trouble-free.

Both our local pharmacists have been complaining about LFT supply issues since mid-Dec. Patchy at best.

I too am groaning under the weight of lateral flow tests that have come in a timely manner or that I've picked up when out shopping, but I also know of colleagues who are so desperate they are offering money for me to bring a load in, so I understand the situation, even if it's not my own.

(Dear reader, I am not making money selling on tests, before you ask).

It will be interesting to see what happens with the IKEA decision to reduce sick pay entitlement for non-vaccinated people who have to isolate. To me it seems a logical decision that comes into the freedom of choice having consequences category but I suspect it will end up in the Courts (I assume IKEA isn't very unionised though so cost may prevent that unless some civil liberties lawyer goes for a no win, no fee case).

    Not now it would appear.
    intermittent
    /ɪntəˈmɪt(ə)nt/
    adjective
occurring at irregular intervals; not continuous or steady.
Read my post above - just relaying my experience. Beats attempted points scoring scoring any day ;)
When KG said it was an 'intermittent' issue you said 'not now it seems' which would suggest you don't understand what intermittent means.
It seems - as in it seems to me. Should be pretty obvious unless you're trying to points score. Have a Cake Stop gold star
