The BBC agree with you. For once, a half decent piece on someone other than the usual suspects,

You mean this bit 'Nine months on, Woods - now 32 - is looking to the future again. He finished third at last September's World Championships and is eyeing up his first ever Tour de France in July.'
Not exactly beating his drum. Not sure the BBC are 'agreeing' anything. They also don't mention ( and he doesn't) he is the third in line to the throne to two very experienced GT riders, therefore he should be going in a supportive role (super domestique)

I think he's a great rider and hope it all goes well and who knows he might get lucky , he's certainly put himself in that position

I didn't mean agree in the sense that you do, but in the fact that the BBC actually have bothered to produce a cycling related piece on their site that is about a non UK rider: the fact that they deem worthy of attention.
As to whether he stays third in the EF pecking order, or ends up as their leader, no one knows until the road decides.
    But whatever.

Just not seeing Dan Martin. That "giving it some head" style is never going to help him limit his losses in the TT. Never mind he tends to have a bad day . Could see him win on the planck thou . Hope he comes good .

Tom Fordyce is usually worth reading, he actually likes sport unlike Dan Roan who seems to hate it!

    And Peter Crouch.

He's also someone that I have two mutual friends/acquaintances with - completely independent of each other.

Why has no-one mentioned Enric Mas?

He's just been trounced on the first MTF in Switzerland. Not good at all.

I'm guessing he covers rugby too as he's got a few Cardiff Parkruns to his name all around the time of the 6 Nations and Autumn Internationals.

    So, Tom Dumoulin is out.

At this rate we'll be looking at which of the sprinters can climb a bit.

Stay with the GC group on the climbs, put in a half decent TT, pick up bonus seconds on the sprints. Sorted.

Great, maybe an open, unpredictable TfF for once ?

doubt they will do but id love to see a GT with no high climbs, so you had more people who could win it. Keep the likes of Sagan etc in contention for longer and force the mountain goats to do something different to win

Got to be Bernal now hasn't it...

He'll gain some seconds over Thomas on the first serious mountain, and then will be their protected rider for the remainder of the race.

Don't really think Dumoulin being out changes the equation this time, sadly.

Errr, it didn't work quite like that, last year.
Didn't happen until after stage 17 to Saint-Lary-Soulan.
If both get through to the 3rd week in decent shape, it will happen there.

A bit early to count out everybody but Bernal in the Swiss race, but some teams are faced with a real headache.
The Dauphine crowd look to be in much better nick.

Have just spotted that Lawson Craddock's currently fifth at the Tour de Suisse...

If he gets anywhere near the top ten in the Tour I fear I may go into full Kevin Keegan mode.

In many ways Egan Bernal is my favourite, but he just put 30seconds into Tiesj Benoot on a mountain top finish. A Tour de France winning performance that is not.

He only attacked about 1km from the finish though.

It's not only the real yellow jersey candidates that look pretty sparse, it's also the undercard boys who could be racing for other jerseys or the second half of the top 10.

Both Spanish young guns, Soler and Mas who we would be looking at to make a further step up after big performances last year, seem to have taken a backward step. Today, both were not at the races.
Riders racing against the clock after injury, such as Latour and Keldermann, really struggled today. Aru was perhaps the only positive.

Not a GC candidate, but here is another breaking story about another big name who is now in doubt.

Yes. He's trying to win the mountain jersey again by getting into breaks on the right days.

He's needs to lose a lot of time first before he'll be allowed to get away

No he doesn't. He's not a GC threat.
