A charge will show quicker than a refund but you will get it, I've had orders cancelled and refunded but never moaned and thrown a tantrum cause the refund wasn't processed as quickly as I was charged or cause the company had gone home. Do you expect them to be available 24/7 incase George or Geoffery buy stuff from them and get it wrong. Perhaps you ought to do like the forth member of the gang...

Good advert for Merlin this thread. I have never used them, but I will check them out now. Lots of very happy customers....and one moron.

Bungle! Most people when they are in a hole of their own making, stop digging.

Is it possible that Bungle doesn’t exist but is a very clever marketing ploy by Merlin? It’s working!

The attitude of people here is completely disgusting. A company has basically stolen money from my CC, yet apparently it's all my fault. Apparently, I'm a "bad" person for cancelling the odd order. Don't talk rubbish. Who the hell do you think you are slagging me off for no reason like that? This thread makes me so bloody angry. I'm not sure I even want to continue being a member here, as this is not the first time I've been subjected to a torrent of unwarranted and childish abuse.

You really are a complete waster aren’t you. People like you are why I don’t do retail and only deal with trade now. Companies really don’t need customers like you.

Completely agree Veronese, after 46 years in the retail sector I have had my fill of customers who in most cases "know the industry better than you" despite the fact they have never worked in it.

So you're trying to claim that pre-authorisations don't exist? Even though I've already proved that they do? I'm experienced enough to know how it works so take your patronising attitude elsewhere.

And why would anyone want to shop at a retailer who treats their customers with such contempt that they slag their them off for daring to cancel an order? Such a retailer does not deserve to be in business.

Well you’re free to go. You got defensive straight away when someone questioned you, even if you didn’t like what was said why not just make light of it or ignore it? Internet arguments only happen when you react like this. If you think everyone else is wrong, have you not considered that you might have played some part in it? From an outside perspective it certainly looks like you’re reaction has been more childish than the responses.

To be clear, you haven’t been stolen from, you will get your money back, it’s not the end of the world.

Going to check out Merlins deals, thanks for the heads up

Bungle, you really need to get the police invvolved if your money has been stolen. They have special division for internet fraud.

Placed a couple of orders the other day with Merlin. Shortly after I decided to cancel both orders and consolidate them into one order. Just checked my CC account online, and I find that I've been charged for all three orders! :x

Apparently they go home at 4:30 (why when most places finish at 5 or 5:30?), and won't be back until Monday!

No idea why this warrants a post especially the rant about Merlin closing at 4.30!

Like others I have used them lots over the last few months mainly due to the Castelli bargains. Had to return an item and got the refund the same day so in my eyes Merlin are a bloody great retailer and I would absolutely use them again.

I also think the rewards programme is pretty good too!

Bungle, how many days had passed between cancelling the order and checking your card statement?

If it's less than 6 you basically deserve all the abuse you're getting.

If it's over 14 then I think you might have a point...

I see a good night's sleep hasn't calmed him down.

They haven't stolen your money. You ordered stuff. It's really not rocket science.

What did you order ? Must be something expensive?

You are one seriously confused person.

That's a serious accusation Bungle! I hope you have evidence, I don't see any so far on this thread, only the angry, ill formed ramblings of someone who made a mistake and now has to wait a few days to get a refund.

No. You're not a bad person for cancelling the odd order. Happens all the time. You're a bad person because of your ad hominem and straw man arguments, plus personal attacks on members.

    Keep digging Bungle!

Best Thread Ever. For what is't worth, I also run an internet business and for us the payment provider (in our case stripe or Paypal) pays us in full as soon as the customer places the order and then if they cancel we refund. However some large internet companies like Amazon do operate a system where they pre-authorise the payment and only charge when the order is dispatched. However the difference is that they are their own payment processor. In the images posted below a customer from Israel bought something over Christmas and we cancelled the order when we re-opened as we don't ship there.

Stevie what would you know ? Bungles had enough of experts.

If he reckons something - you know he's right....

And if it's his credit card - then it's not even his money that was 'stolen' ?

You mean your shop was closed over Christmas???
My god man, what a disgrace! Shops aren't allowed to have opening and closing times, they should be open 24/7... Bungle have a word will ya

Er no I didn't. I responded to a personal attack that was pretty much the first reply that I got. Apparently that's the way it works on this forum, go straight for jugular without actually bothering to understand the situation. It's very telling that not one person has been interest in why I modified my order, not one. No, apparently I'm scum for daring to make a slight change to an online order. Apparently I'm supposed to feel ashamed for making a simple change on a computer system.
it certainly looks like you’re reaction has been more childish than the responses.

    Riiiiiiiiiiight.

No I'm scum according to the people here......
You're a bad person because of your ad hominem and straw man arguments,

    Pure nonsense.
    plus personal attacks on members.

I'm the one receiving personal attacks here.
  • Simple yes or no question Bungle. You’ve done the transactions with a credit card so has any money actually left your bank account ?

Do you mean a slight change, a simple change or making three separate orders and then cancelling them.

A slight change would be to change the number of inner tubes youve ordered.

    These are three separate transactions.
  • I think Bungle has clearly had different experiences re refunding processes from other companies which he has clearly approved of.Merlins process hasn't gone that same way and he has gone off, somewhat alarmingly it appears.
I think whatever it is you ordered, why it went wrong...its not that relevant, your approach on here has been confrontational towards anyone giving you advice/comments that you don't like/agree with. The thing is with any online forum is you open yourself to comments, good and bad, your somewhat childish responses appear to suggest you may not be of the right mental fortitude to take part in forums, if your instant response to perceived criticism is to be so hostile...just an observation, please feel free to RIP me same as you have everyone else!!

Hmm, strokes chin, interesting angle. Mind you, have to award kudos to the marketeers to have the foresight to register an id in 2015 and keep it in deep cover to be used 2+ years later.

Another set of online forums, covering pretty much anything and everything. Started 20 years ago as a place for ravers, left wingers and anarchists. We’ve all mostly grown up and had kids now though
