It does indeed sound a bit leftfield. Maybe they think Moscon needs a bit of a calming influence.
Sky have signed their top stars' friends before - Earle (Porte), Golas (Kwiatkowski) - although he's a good pro in his own right. It'll be Cameron Wurf next if he wants to quit triathlon.

True. But Rowe is a doubt for much of the season and there's the ongoing issues with Inxuasti. And five first year pros.

James Murdoch to Disney - along with Sky. Jeremy Darroch's future uncertain. Wonder whether it will impact Team Sky...

At the moment that's at the 'Boasson Hagen to BMC' stage.

It would be a good fit as Disney own the actual Death Star

Personally I don't think we should take joy from someone else's misfortune, even if that person is someone we don't like.

I am, however, prepared to make an exception for Rupert Murdoch.

Is Rowe really likely to miss that much of the season? He's been back doing light training for a month and is now back on the road so he missed maybe 3 months. We regularly see riders out injured for similar lengths of time and come back quite quickly. I still wouldn't be surprised to see him at the spring classics if only in a support role.

However, a timescale is difficult to pin down, with Rowe suggesting April 2018 is the earliest he is likely to be back in action.

"It's hard to put a date on it. Each person heals and the body works in a different way. There's a very vague date - but the Classics are out out of the equation.

"I'm not going to be 100% by April."

Rowe does not rule out representing Wales at the Commonwealth Games - again in April - having been in the team in Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014 when his compatriot Geraint Thomas won the Road Race and he finished fifth.

But any decision on a return would have to be taken in conjunction with Team Sky.

"We have spoken about it [Commonwealth Games]; it's definitely a possibility," he said.

"I'd have to speak to the team and look at the race programme and see what's best for me and the team.

Good for him I guess, must be difficult to always be 2nd man if you have aspirations to win. He'd better get a move on though
  • You could just reuse the same story every year its his final contract year

Maybe this time he'll actually do something about it

What would the number of riders be if they didn't have to attend every WT race as a team?

Yeah I suspect it's designed to get him a better contract from sky.

Would love to see him move though as I think he could beat Froome in the tour (provided he stays on the bike )

I cant see the likes of Thomas beating Froome (where is he better?) but I'd love to see him go full gas on the cobbles and rolling stages and try to take time there. A bit like Nibali but more so.

Well, when on form, he can definitely TT as well as Froome and if he receives the protection from a decent team around him I think he could match Froome in the mountains. Or at least challenge him.

I just hope we get to see it.
