So, 6 out of the top 8 with a genuine chance of winning this?

If the top 5 is tight after Saturday then stage 8 could be a brilliantly attacking day.

Which two of those eight are you discounting? I'd be surprised if Gilbert did well on the Couillolle, but the rest are all in with a chance.

I was discounting Gilbert and Izagirre. Maybe a bit harsh on Izagirre but he's never got anywhere close to winning a stage race of this quality before.

Given some my man teams, that wouldn't be that remarkable, but to be fair, your team is having a good race.

Does Greipel look a bit more svelte than usual or is it my imagination?

His team have to defend the jersey, so he's short of riders when it comes to setting him up for a sprint. He's a fairly one dimensional riders, he's never been a sprinter who can freelance his way to wins.

Possibly - I was wondering the same thing. I also thought he looked quite relaxed right up until he went for it, whereas he sometimes looks like he's bustling around a little more.

Hmm. Smells like a "too big to get over the Poggio or not" debate.

Maybe. But I think people remember that he's bigger than he actually is. The Gorilla tag probably does that.

The German champs jersey possibly has a visual slimming effect in white, vs. the normal Lotto one maybe?

Google suggests hes 82kg, I'm not sure about that.

Seems inconclusive, probably not much in it. Maybe it is just the white jersey having a slimming effect.

Cyr iLemoine launched the first offensive this morning. He is in the breakaway with Anacona, King and D.Fernandez.

Very long very lumpy day to be out on your own. Ancona can do the hills mind

8 away with 2 minutes, including Ben Swift and Chavanel. As PTP leader a group mopping up the points suits me fine ;)

For those without the player, Eurosport are going to be late due to biathlon coverage.
Sporza is live as well, Just over 40kms to go.
Dan Martin, Contador and Henao did attack, but for nought.

Carlton Kirby take note: excellent example of how to commentate just been on. Ben Swift misidentified as being in lead group, a quick apology and explanation (race number mistake). No problems, carry on.

Now back to the racing, over to you Sean at Pariss- Niece

Good position on the bike - but his nose thingy he's got on looks stupid.

Also the "easy shower" logo on the side of the jersey is w@nk.
