I think it's the plain black accessories that really make it.

Who's the Cannondale on a flyer? Looks doomed...

    Where's Phil Gil anyone?

    In the Bert group

    Cheers.

I have a rather narrow lens through which I watch a lot of this; namely, how are the classics guys doing, and who of the Poggio potential protagonists (PPP) are doing well.

    Nom nom nom nom nom

80-1 on Colbrelli although I'm not sure early season form has been indicative of much lately.

Richard Porte finished 14 minutes behind and Bouhanni abandoned. I've had better PTP days.

Flat stage and people rolling in after yellow jersey presentation! What sort of time gap calculation is it today?

edit ten percent, so about 26 mins. I think the last group was rolling in about 22 mins down. Not sure if anyone else is out there

Impressed that Groenewegen being up there. A PPP sign, Rick?

It's the race TO the sun - doesn't mean it has to be sunny on the way!

In fact it makes more sense if the weather's shite en route.

He won't be doing sh!t on the Poggio other than hanging on for dear life.

Dutch domestic rider does well in crosswind stage shocker :P

Jumbo do not 'hang on' on the hills, to door mirrors anyway!

Man alive, some teams are having shockers - but Cannondale Drapac and BMC... oh my days. Then there's ag2r...

If things carry on like this, by stage 7 I reckon most riders would prefer to be luzzed off the top of Col de la Couillole with the winner being the one who rolled furthest.
  • I checked before, and there's only 21 guys within 90 seconds of the lead. Of which 10 are what you would call favourites, some of them outsiders at best (Alaphilippe and Gallopin included)

    And it's only day 2!

Apparently a tailwind expected for most of the day.

Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale), Ben King (Dimension Data), and Romain Combaud (Delko-Marseille) in the break.

Had a lovely lunch and expensive wine buying day in Mercurey a couple of years ago...
