At the risk of starting up another game of party political tennis in the cake stop.

From what I can glean, the difficulty in accepting the Labour amendment of one month instead of 6, would mean that i would be more difficult to show to a British court that any submission made was "knowingly or recklessly" false.
The UK courts seem particularly zealous in upholding Article 6 HRA and apparently at least one oligarch's legal team have argued successfully in the past 12 months that any sanctions applied were unlawful.
In 2019 an Iranian bank was awarded £1.3 billion in court as the court ruled that the sanctions imposed were "arbitrary and irrational"

Meanwhile, while people are cock a hoop about seizing yachts and houses (and football clubs), India snatches Putin's hand off at the offer of cheap oil and Europe continues to fund Russia to the tune of $250m A DAY by buying his gas.

Listening to the news on the radio set off some synapses in my head. (Had to happen some time). I did a search and we were discussing the possibility of today back in January 2021. Gets going on page 1646 of the Brexit thread.
Some posts aged well, others not so much.

    FYI - https://forum.bikeradar.com/discussion/13028650/brexit-is-this-really-still-rumbling-on/p1646

    worth a look...

Thank you. That's what I was looking for the other night, but failed to find.

Yes, to do that premeditated when you've had time to think through the consequences takes some courage

It's reported this morning that she was a producer at the TV station and has now been "detained" by the Russian authorities.
I fear she may not have many finger nails left by now.

The consequences of a missile strike at that time are horrendous. 🤞🤞🤞

How are they getting there ? I mean what if a Ukrainian with a surface to air missile doesn't get the memo?

Looks like China will offer financial support to Russia.

I don't understand the rationale. Their interests are only served by geopolitocal stability.

Economic and financial aid will mean they'll have a skint Russia in their pocket. It's a clever move. There's been no sign that they've given any military aid though - that's just speculation at the moment. I'm swaying towards them drawing a line at money - I really hope so anyway.

With money, Russia can build its own weapons.

It needs the parts and raw materials to build more weapons, and they don't all come from Russia. In fact a lot of it doesn't come from Russia.

Interestingly Russia's defence budget is only about $60 billion a year - compared to the US budget of $725 billion - and a hell of a lot of that was invested into developing next gen equipment like the Su57 stealth fighter so it can be sold to foreign countries allowing for said aircraft to be fully funded and put into production - he's essentially been gambling the annual defence budget when he should have been financing the upkeep of the current inventory. You can bet your hat that some of that $60 billion has been syphoned off for personal gain by members of his party = even less investment into new tech and the upkeep of old tech.

    I stand corrected.

Sink in fields, or go along tracks... hmm, tricky one...

Bit of T Cut and it will be as good as new.

I did wonder before whether there are likely to be drones getting flown out of Poland and piloted from Nevada or wherever it is the US pilots are based. Not sure how easy it would be for Russia to detect that and if it is the sort of 'deniable' direct action NATO could take.
