I think the English national team would probably perform a lot better if they realise that they were pretty average: take the pressure of them selves as "world beaters" as they blatantly, obviously aren't.
Do you think it's the players, or the fans?
I've thought the fans have been fairly realistic during qualifying and going into this tournament, decent performance in QF's would have been hailed as a success.
Our players are technically miles behind the likes of Spain, Italy and Germany and will continue to be so unless the premier league changes it's way. Having England players like Delph, Sterling, Lallana etc moving to bigger clubs and sitting on the bench to fulfil quotas is killing the national team.0 -

Agree completely - and when they beat Slovakia 1-0 in September it'll be the resurgence of the great Lions again or some such sycophantic ITV bullshiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

I see them more as "meat beaters" tbh.0 -

I can tell you never read the 'How British are you?' thread, despite posting on it. It's not even small print. What do they pay you for?!

A good run for the Welsh. I can put the bunting away now until 2074. I see that on FB men who kick balls around a park are Heroic. Maybe they are out fighting fires between matches or something, after all footie can't be described as a full time job can it?0

France into the final with an impressive win over Germany
As an aside, the atmosphere at the Stade Velodrome was fantastic, I've been there myself to watch Olympique Marseille play AS Monaco, it's an arena that lends itself to intimidating boisterous atmosphere!!0 -
As the Leek munchers couldn't do it, do you think France can make Ronaldo's bottom lip stick out and make him chuck the toys out of the pram?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

*sigh* Walcott back in the squad and Rooney is still captain. Do we ever learn?0

But Rooney has said that he will retire post 2018 and wants to go out on a high. Disappointment beckons Mr R........Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

To be fair to him, he played very well in that midfield position.
It was the media hyped up Sturridge, Vardy, Kane, Lalana et al who weren't and are not world class that let us down. All that possession in a manner that we have never seen England achieve but they couldn't hit a barn door with a bucket against half decent defences.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Big Sam's the man with the plan now though! Expect silky skills and no long balls0
