Take six steps backward and zoom in to compensate. This compresses the lens and image. Bikes look dreadful otherwise....

Went to the shop on the weekend with the intention of buying a CAAD12, tried a few out, then opted for one of these instead.

Could have sworn I replied to that earlier! Good, not the world's best, but for the budget really good. Easy to spin up, roll very well, feel comfy. Perhaps very slightly on the side of harsh(er) than other non aero wheels. Pleased with them and they will do for ages.

Not normally down with red bikes but this is an exception.
Excelent choice but why the wait ?
2-3 weeks ? At this time of the year you'd think CSG would have a model as popular as that ready to go.
Anywhere else have them in stock ?
When you do get it get the shop to sort the cables out at the front end. I noticed on Benders just how much excess cable there is. Got my mate/LBS to shorten and tidy mine up and looks loads bettter.
Bender, maybe get it done with your rings rather than have to go through front mech hassle again ?
    Spiderrings look ace as ever.
When the tape gets dirty go black and saddle to match of course.

I'm on holiday at the end of this week so I told them no rush, he just said 2-3 weeks then.
Big yes on the black tape and saddle, I have a black charge knife which i'm rather fond of.

LBS are struggling with my front mech setup. Apparently the BOR doesn't swap very easily to the big ring. Takes a second or so. But once in, indexed perfectly. I'm ok with that.

    Right. Bike is back. But.....

If I put ANY pressure on the drive train then the chain slips, makes a massive noise then falls off.

    Any thoughts?

Could it be that I need a new chain? It's certainly not old but if it's become "used to" the old setup?

Any play in the BB? It'll be very little to hand pressure, but I've seen lack of preload/spacers cause enough movement in the wave washer under pedaling pressure to throw the chain.

If it's throwing out to the right/crank side, I'd chance another shim on the spindle to see if that tightens things up enough. Of course, that'll mean you needing the hollowgram remover tool.

Nope. It's tight. I've given up now. 1/2 hour and I'm not battling with removing the last bloody bolt which will just not undo and I can't get the chain bolt tool in hard enough to undo. Might have to be drilled out.

Usually an indexing, cable tension or mech hanger problem. Also, as far as shifting up from small to big ring not being great, is the inner front ring on the right way ie with any recess for the bolt heads facing the frame, and with any alignment mark lined up with the crank arm. Alignment mark visible on the RHS in pic below.

Thanks Mike. (And Ugo). It's the large ring. Alignment seems ok. Dunno what it is. Weird. Putting the FSA back on.

Looking closely at your bike pic, the inner ring alignment mark appears to be still visible - it needs to be hidden behind the crank arm. That would not cause slippage but may affect up shifting from small to big ring...

The shop moved that for me today. Shifting was ok. Not brilliant but ok.

Anyhow, got it all off. Put the FSA back on. Moved the mech up slightly. Did it up. Peachy. Better shifting than ever before. No slippage at all. Even the trim is better. Magic.

Got the BOR off. Stuck it on a flat surface. Doesn't seem absolutely flat (big ring) and is REALLY flexible. I mean I can flex it by hand.

Bender, did the shop release your bike to you with a caveat that they'd done all they can ?
By your description they've struggled to do it and given in. If the ring is bent then it's not gonna work but that'd be pretty obvious when fitting it and adjusting the front mech. Did they test ride it because surely they would have noticed it slip off at the slightest sign of pressure.
So it's not slipping off when you change up ? IE it's not an overshift, its when your in the big ring and you push down on the pedals ?
Get the chain checked for wear, how many miles have you done on it ? Just changed mine after 1700 and was told it was about 3/4 of life gone. How many miles have you done on your chain ?
The alignment marks are there for a reason and do need to be lined up but if the issue is as you described and it slips when change is complete (and mech is not nudging it off) then its the chain or ring.
I wouldn't give in just yet and get a second opinion given your shops first effort.
If they aren't bent then there must be some other reason.

They clearly didn't test ride it as any pressure would render it obvious. The chain is probably about 600-800 miles or so I guess. Never used in the wet, generally in mint condition. FSA is back on and flawless.

I honestly think it's flexing. It's very very flexible as a ring. I can do it by hand very easily. It doesn't sit quite flat on a surface either. I think I'll wait for those £104 spiderings which are coming out.

    £104 ? Bargain !
Didn't try to flex mine by hand but I've never noticed any issues.
If you really don't want them then I'll ask a mate who was considering them if he'll take them off you.
Sorry they didn't work for you after all the badgering !
