First proper ride today, at one point there was a rattling sound from the back. After investigation, the cassette was loose (blaming Evans for that). Otherwise really nice ride, I just need to get a proper bike fit done.

With the Quattros and GP4000's. Filthy after some crap weather. Seat post next to be replaced. Think I'll go with all black cages as well.

Still gutted about my evo, but finally caved in and had a bike fight on my new Synapse. Interesting thing, but as a seasoned roadie, I thought I was dialled in, but alas, pretty wide of the mark. Bike geo is so peculiar and as I am now on a 54cm Synapse with a steep seat tube I needed some adjustment. Booked to see a chap called Tony here after googling bike fit in the South West -

    http://www.tribecyclesolutions.co.uk/

A superb fit and experience. Superb value for money. He has a slightly more holistic approach than the goniometer and chin scratch, though fit in included biometric assessment, strength test, before and after Q&A. Lasers, motion as well as old skool techniques used. Went out for a 32 miler this morning and felt on the money saddle wise, literally in the sweet spot - not felt like that in a long time. Saddle height was spot on too, we also adjusted my cleats and again, I felt like I was pedalling smoothly, knees tracking well and dragging the rug as I call it. All in all, after spending huge ££££ on bikes, lesson learned that a fit at £99 is worth every penny. If you are local, I recommend Tony all day long.

Quick picture of my Evo HM.

Only change since the photo was to replace the saddle with a Specialized power.

Most of my miles are done on a synapse and I tend to keep the evo for racing/fast sunday runs. Had it out on Sunday past for the first time since last September and fell it love with it all over again.

Just need to look out for a set of spiderings at sensible money

Stiff and comfortable. Not lightning fast when accelerating but they hold the speed well once you get there. Only 100 odd miles done on them so still early days.

There she is... with Quattros and GP4000S II. And no more cassette rattling (thanks for not tightening the cassette properly in the first place, Evans).

It is a bit tighter on the right side, but I still think there is more than enough clearance. I have put electrical tape to see if there will be any rub on my ride to Brighton this Sunday and will provide an update.

OEM bottom bracket crapped out really, really quickly, particularly the NDS bearing, which was seized solid. Could be luck of the draw, but pretty consistent with my experience of all things bearings with "FSA" written on them. Driven out*, and Wheels Manufacturing Angular Contact installed. Spinning like a ceiling fan now.

*A horribly nervous job, FWIW. I've happily pinged BB30 bearings in and out of alloy frames for years, but there's something inherently wrong about swinging the BFH next to all that pricey carbon...

Went out yesterday, 35 miles first run, 25 second.

First run felt quite stiff and not quite right.

Second run, dropped psi 10 in each tyre, seatpost down by 1cm, slightly down tilted bars. Much much better.

115 rear and 95 front on first ride (Conti GP4000S II).

Felt like a really harsh one, but then I haven't checked properly the pressure of my previous tyres, so could be the case that I was running really low on both, hence the different impression. Dropped about 10 psi on the rear and it definitely got a bit comfier, probably will do more or less the same with the front one. Will test ride tonight with 105 rear and 85 front.

Them Contis can be run low without any slowdown. I'm still experimenting but can go to 70psi at the front without them rolling any slower. Probably helps than I'm 58kg. Quality tyre.

Continental Grand Prix 4000S II Rolling Resistance Test

Looking at the numbers here, 70psi is not a bad idea and you are really light as well.

I saw one the all green Evo's out on the road the other day, and have to say it really is quite striking "in the flesh". :)
  • Bender - how much room do you have at the rear with your Michelin power 25mm tyres?

I'm thinking of getting them and would be putting them on some DA C24s

Anyone had issues with clicking sound from the handlebar? Drove me nuts the other day... According to my LBS, it is the spacer and has begun to crack from the pressure I am putting on the handlebar.

The spacers that were supplied with my supersix were made of cheese. I have swapped them out and its much more solid,

I have ordered the Spider rings. 50 and 34 so I can go down to compact. This will mean fettling the front mech but that's ok.

How much have you paid for a set of them ?
Is there a new spider/adapter you need compared to the one supplied with your chainset?
Promise I won't mention BOR chainrings ....... Doh

I recently swapped to steel chainring bolts after snapping a couple of the supplied ones ...... spiderrings don't need chainring bolts though do they ? Are the one piece inner and outer ?

My Schwalbe Ones it came with have had there day so picked up a pair of Michelin Pro3 for £22 the other day.
Granted they're 23mm but I think the 25mm Schwalbes looked at bit big on my Ksyrium Elites and Pro3s are a large-ish 23mm so for the price it was a no brainer.
