Didn’t read the whole thing but it seems to me there is as much (if not more) of a fraud issue than a tax one.briantrumpet said:Here's Dan Neidle on a Labour figure, for balance (even if the amounts are rather msaller - as he says, the principle is the same):

As Neidle says, as with Zahawi, the evasiveness only compounds the suspicions: if he has nothing to hide, whatever the specifics, why not be open?0 -
Gosh, colour me shocked, Corbyn a Brexiter "at heart"?

I suspect not, given Starmer's grip on the party.
My left-loon friend - a true believer, who'd rather lose election after election with a purist socialist manifesto - is saying he'll never vote for Starmer. But I think the jig's up for Corbyn. He might make some waves in his own constituency, but your wet dream of Labour imploding over him is going to lead to disappointment, I suspect.0 -
I suspect that most of the swivel eyed leftie loons at least have the sense to keep their mouths shut, unlike JC. Some of them realise that the thin veneer of moderation that Starmer gives them increases their chances and only if he gets into power will they then come out to play.briantrumpet said:Stevo_666 said:

Then they can be appointed deputy party chair?0
-
Who'd have thought that political parties would attract nutters, eh?
Twas ever thus, but it's how parties handle them that counts. Putting them in as PM and Chancellor probably isn't the ideal way.0 -
Will it work better than when labour backed someone other than Livingstone for mayor? Seems naive to me.0

I guess he does attract an extra level of vitriol from lefties given he is a defector from Labour.webboo said:

Even you must have some doubts about his character, given what he’s said and done.0

Nah, it's like the 'bring Boris back' stuff that you think triggers people who just want to see the present iteration of the Tory Party annihilated at the polls, so that they can do some navel-gazing and try to reinvent themselves as a serious party, not just people who dislike foreigners, giving tax cuts to the richest in society and trolling everyone who disagrees with their populist carp. The more they carry on thinking that trolling is their main purpose, the more the likely it is that Labour will get elected.
tl;dr - I don't think that 30p Lee will be worrying Starmer, but he should be worrying you. If he's not, I've no idea what you think the Tory Party stands for (or should stand for).0 -
Of course not, he wears a blue rosette on election day which is all that matters. He could say he wants to nationalise everything but as long he’s a Tory MP he’s one of the good guys.webboo said:Even you must have some doubts about his character, given what he’s said and done.

I really find it hard to compute that the same person could be passionately advocating Rishi, Boris or Truss as their leader in the next election.Pross said:

To my logical mind the individual should be undecided and then ambivalently chose (or not) on the day.0 -
For Stevo's amusement... he can't even pronounce the word Kyiv.
In other news, he found himself in the company of conspiracy-theorist & antisemite Roger Waters... who'd have thought, eh?0 -

It shows very poor judgement0 -
That said, this is a very funny question to ask:
"If you think this shows that Sue Gray was not impartial, do you think there should be a new inquiry into parties at number 10?"0 -
The above is why it's maybe not such a bad move.0

That was pretty much my first opinion. Not a good look, possibly ill advised, but the tories will tie themselves in knots if they object.kingstongraham said:

If the Conservatives kick up a fuss about the report being a stitch up...it's a really pathetic look. I think given the toothless nature of the report, they would do well to keep quiet.
It might play well to their base, but they really need to start growing the base quickly.0
