Just watched the coverage of Corbyn's conference speech and he genuinely concluded the speech by channeling Bob the Builder.
In the paper this morning, there are reports that Labour party delegates struggled to get home from the conference after signalling faults caused West coast trains to be suspended.

Corbyn tweets: "Couldn't make this up. We need public ownership of our railways."
One rail user replies: "Signal faults are Network Rail's problems you moron. And guess what? They're nationalised."

Vote for the ones that don't actively want to screw you, simple. Or screw the chances of the ones that do - which is the point of this thread :)

From their point of view. They should have had this as the theme music.

As good a reason as any to vote Labour, as there are no logical ones.

As I said in that post, I have not really followed the case. But it would appear that her alleged 'offences' were committed prior to her ill judged visit to Iran.

That's what she was accused of, not evidence that the allegations were true. So is that a no? I'm not sure you saying "well we don't know if it's true or not" counts for anything.

There has to be a chance that Boris had seen the actual file and in his confusion spoke the truth. This would also explain why he refused to apologise.

The alternative is he has a form of Tourette’s that makes him blurt out the most inappropriate comment

Lots of things are possible. If all we have to go on is Johnson's lack of apology, I think we are still at a no. Has he apologised for anything, ever?

As I said, not followed it.
But according to Amnesty, the charges relate to her work with Thomas Reuters foundation. My knowledge of Iranian law is probably worse than yours, so I have no idea of whether her work constituted an offence in Iran. Maybe yes, maybe no. Iran thinks yes.
IIRC, BoJo's faux pas was to say that she was in Iran to teach journalism.
If her prior conduct did in fact constitute an offence under Iranian law and she was teaching journalism and promoting sedition, it is not a massive stretch to think she may have met and dealt with people in Iran, that state consider seditious.
I would imagine that very few people know exactly what she was doing and who she met there. I am pretty certain BoJO knew more than most of us.
Yes, he was loosed mouthed and stupid with his comments, but I am open minded to the idea that he may have inadvertently uttered the truth. I couldn't say either way and neither, I suspect, can others on here. That is why I said BoJo may be telling the truth.
Or should we just automatically believe Nazanin because she's British?

Nah nah Mr Deflection666, that old trope don't work on me.

But given my MP is Airhead Leadsom (face palm) and I live in a part of Ingerlaand where a wheely bin would get voted in as long as it was coloured blue, though said wheely bin would in all likelihood be more sensible than Airhead, in the interests of opacity here's my hypothetical voting preference list, if anybody is actually interested.

    Green
    libDem
    Labour
    Tory
    Bucketheads aka UKIP

How far down that list before I would abstain? Well, never voted Torybastard in my life and cannot see a scenario where that ever happens. Tick.

Technical hitch. Very few people actually vote for the party leader. This is an exception.
That may be the end consequence in a GE, but it is not who they actually put their cross against.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • Conservative voters might be mocking and deriding Labour's pledges but I suspect the Tory party will be poaching some of them, albeit in a diluted form, before the next election rather than the other way round. Party unity, or the appearance of it, counts for so much and the Conservatives are so far away from it it's embarassing, Brexit is consuming them.
  • Seems the Labour Party themselves were taken by surprise over the Brexit malarkey and conference was shambolic. At the last GE Conservatives were talking about a domestic agenda. It wasn’t that long ago, you can remember it. And then the slide into chaos started. Treeza will do her best to get back on track, but Brexit has dominated the political landscape. Who knew?
I still don’t think her conference will go better than Jezza’s. However many policies she nicks.
