Transfers 2016 : Rumours and fact

Pleased for Hart and Peters but hope they are given a chance to develop without being pushed too hard in the first season or two. I guess they've had a season or two just above UK domestic scene level that will hopefully help the transition but I'm a bit wary after seeing how Domrowski, Boswell and Edmonson did after the move.0

I'll grant you Dombrowski and Edmonson, although both did some good rides whilst at Sky, but Boswell has done very well at Sky. He's clearly a trusted team mate these days, and I reckon some decent results are not far away.
People seem to overlook Luke Rowe's progression at Sky.0 -
Dombrowski had a pretty hefty injury in year 2 after a promising first year. Boswell has come on steadily and made a big jump this year, the same progression as Rowe and Puccio. Seb Henao has been good too.0

Boswell has stuck at it and is coming good now so probably right although he seemed to go backwards for the first season or two with injuries etc. Rowe always seemed much more ready and seems a different sort of rider. Likewise with Henao and Puccio, they came up through different systems that feel more suited to developing into the top pro ranks (I think Rowe going through the old Italian based Academy system is similar too).
Having said that, both Peters and Hart seem like strong characters.0 -

Can't have long left, can he?
I imagine a french pro-conti team might like him. Or back to QS where he can spend 6 hours off the front giving Boonen an easy ride? Just for old time's sake, like.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

If Europcar don't sort their sponsorship out then there is going to be a surplus of French riders knocking around... and Dan from Nam.0

Riis returns? CN rumour that could he join Cult Energy and help bring in much needed sponsorship next season.0

Can't see that happening. Cult's owners are quite big on the old anti-doping no?
Plus, what company are still looking at Bjarne Riis and thinking "That guy really embodies what I'm selling!"?!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

With Tinkoff not saying how long he will keep funding, he might need to swoop back in and save his old team.
Although I don't get the feeling Oleg would be keen to sell back to him!0 -
Probably common knowledge already but cycling podcast tweeted confirming Porte will join BMC in 20160

Today should help Mark Cavendish's negotiations.0

It should. If he can win in Paris then he can bend Patrick over I'd have thought.0

At the Giro EQS boss Lefevere did ask Alex Carera if Modolo was available next year. Carera says he's only talking to Lampre for now.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Already prepared to accept a salary cut to stay at EQS it seems. And that's when Pat L thought he'd win 5 stages in the Tour, so....Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Why would he accept a cut if he were to win 5 stages (wishful thinking regardless with this year's parcours)? That makes no sense.0 -

He wants to stay at QS and they can't afford to pay him the same again."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

He's already said he'll take a lower salary to stay at QS. So while winning stages might increase what he'd earn, it's going to be less than what he's on now.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Why is he so keen to stay there? It's hardly HTC where he was the number one man and everything was built around him. I don't think he gets any more assistance there than he did at Sky. I guess the problem is that, other than Giant Alpecin, no teams are really building themselves for sprint wins at the moment and GA already have Kittel and Degenkolb.0 -
