Tinkoff on Sagan:
I saw some reports about my relation with Peter after my last blog with Cyclingnews but we spent some time together at the Tour de Suisse and talked. It was suggested that he wasn't happy and might leave team before the end of his contract. The truth is that we both have a contract that we have to respect but everything is possible. We'll see what happens after the Tour de France.
Translation: I still think I am paying him too much and want to unload the contract, but I'll milk the publicity of winning the green jersey before getting rid.
Sagan should go to Quick Step and become a classics legendIt's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
Kwiatek:
“I have a clear offer from Team Sky. My agent has it but I want to really stay at Etixx but it’s all about an answer from Patrick Lefevere. It’s not about searching for a new path. It’s about staying here and as you know the team haven’t signed yet with Mark Cavendish, Uran, Boonen and other riders. I would like it all finished by August and there’s no way I’ll wait until the end of the season."Contador is the Greatest0 -
Re Porte. "His agent says he has offers" smacks of PL football agents to me. Ritchie is a great super domestique, no question. He has been given the leadership in GTs an come up well short. I see this megaphone posturing as a last big payday attempt. If Sky want to keep him they will have to give him more cash, If not BMC have more money than they know what to do with and dont seem too bothered if promising riders underperform.
Ritchie coud sign a three year deal at BMC, as leader, for loads of money and not be under the same scrutiny he would be at Sky.0 -

BMC are only offering 1yr deals at the moment, as that is as far as their sponsorship lasts.0 -

You would assume that a deal with EQS is all but agreed then. Otherwise that's a pretty silly thing to say about someone who could at least help you bid up your contract."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -

would he be a domestique, for me he was in parts a better climber than his GC man. theres an image of aru having a right go at him from the giro indicating he may not want to be a domestique.... and at Astana, he may well be on good $0 -
Sky releasing Porte according to Cycling Podcast
BMC for 2mil
by my maths that's €50k per kg0 -

I suspect that those outside the italian core are probably looking to exit...

Alex Peters to Sky for two years and they are trying to get Tao.
Tao and Peters are good friends and grew up cycling together. Huge move for them. Very pleased.Contador is the Greatest0 -

I thought you'd hate it because Sky crush young British talent...0 -
Yeah maybe but at least they will get a ride in the WT and move onto better things. They are still young and so good they are close to home. Have a soft spot for them tbh.Contador is the Greatest0

Hell of a lot of money to pay a one week stage race rider or super domestique. TJ is significantly more likely than Porte to win a GT.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Langavelt stays at Garmindale for 2 more years
Pineau out of IAM
Gadret out of Movistar
Jeannesson out of FDJ
AND... apparently Boonen set to stay at E-QS... can't imagine him going anywhere else but do wonder what that means for Lefevre's pool of money and how that impacts Cav/Kwiat/Uran...0 -

Boonen will be retiring next year most likely and Cav is taking a pay cut. What's Uran done to warrant a raise?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Boonen retiring end-2016 I presume. I thought there was a rumour that Uran might be out... though TBH I'm more interested in Kwiat who apparently wants to stay but sounds like its going to be down to budget...0 -
IAM Cycling, BMC and AG2R all eyeing up Coquard
If Europcar goes under it'll be interesting to see where all those riders end up... Can't imagine Tommy V anywhere else really...0 -
BMC said they are not interested in a sprinter so I find that hard to believe.
IAM need someone to do something for them as they are a bit of a non-entity.Contador is the Greatest0 -
That's an awful lot of names linked to Sky. For them all to be true there surely needs to be more than just Porte leaving?Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0

Don't forget Sir Bradley.
But yes, for all those to be joining there must be several set to exit as well...
BTW Fuglsang is staying at Astana0 -

'Poorte' to OGE. No longer good enough for SKY. Even his domestique work last year was hit and miss when it mattered (TdF). Thomas has been the next team leader in the wings for 3 years.
Cav well past his best. Interesting to see whether he's going to accept a pay cut and stay with a slowly imploding team who still insist on backing some faded Belgium former legend.
Boon/Cav to BMC in amazing double header-maybe.
I just don't know where people get this stuff from! What more could Cavendish do this year?
Errrr.....he has to win. He has to win at the TdF. He has to win when he is 'handed' the victory by his team mates.
He had a dig at Greipel for winning "sh1tty" races.
And Poorte not good enough for SKY to renew his contract.0 -
