Ahh... Whoooosh
Not knowing much about the 'finer details' of transfers in cycling... Can riders actually move whilst still in contract or do they have to be out of contract before moving...? And is there a 'window as such when they can move, like football, or is it just in the off-season...?0 -

Yes, teams can buy a rider out of his contract. It's how Wiggins got to to Sky.
There's a short period mid-season when riders are allowed to have their contracts bought and they switch teams (not sure the dates, but around now), but it rarely happens. The most recent case was Rohan Dennis switching mid-season last year from Garmin to BMC.0 -

There are question marks over BMC beyond 2016. Can't believe that Rhis would let it go, but...
Risky move then (I assume Sky were prepared to give him a renewal).
He should have signed on Sky's offer pre-Giro. Everything changed as a result of his Giro.0 -

Bernaudeau apprently applying for a WT licence. no confirmed sponsor inplace though four possibles (2 french, 1 Brit, 1 other). Coquard has so far erfused an offer from Ag2R, and the article mentions another possible signing who would make a significant impact (assuming a sponsor signs on the dotted line).Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -
You have to admire the loyalty in that team. I guess they respect what Bernaudeau has done for them and the sport over such a long period.Contador is the Greatest0

Oh no, hopefully a rumour only.Contador is the Greatest0 -
FF's man, Adam Blythe, set for Tinkoff-Saxo apparently.
He was DNF in virtually all the Spring Classics, then spent the rest of the year riding 2.HC races. (Tours of Turkey, Norway, Langkawi, Oman, Quatar, Korea). Except for the Classics, he did no WT races.0 -
Unfortunately Tinkoff are signing Blythe. Must have got him cheap as Orica had no interest in re-signing him.Contador is the Greatest0

Seems to be some hate for Blythe because of his personality but as a rider he's done well to get back to WT level after a bit of a lull. Had a couple of decent results. Maybe he's good to have on the team ( can't all be stars).
Anyway, no one on Tinkoff can be worse than the boss.0 -

So chuffed for Tux. Been a fan of his for a while and now we can see him in WT. Him, Chaves and the Yates, very exciting.
Stephens added that one conversation during negotiations with Txurruka had been particularly instructive. “During this process, when I asked Amets about his favourite victory he actually told me about a race that he didn’t even win himself. His favourite victory was riding for a teammate to help him claim the win,” Stephens said. “That’s a pretty strong sign of the type of characters we want around this team.”

Ivan Santaromita:
“My contract is finished and I don’t want to stay with the team. Both parties are happy to close the contract. I want to change – I’m looking for a good team where I can find new motivation because here I lost my way and I lost my motivation.”
When asked why exactly things had gone off track, he said jokingly: “I’ll tell you after I sign for a new team, ” suggesting there may be a degree of underlying acrimony that the Italian is not yet ready to expand fully upon.Contador is the Greatest0 -
